Definitely a learning curve, but good!
This arrived way faster than expected..yay!I’ve only gotten the dip done at the salon twice and then just stopped going because it would begin lifting at the cuticle base within 4 or 5 days. 🙄. Ridiculous considering she charges $40. So I googled the dip system after seeeing her apply it, it seemed fairly straightforward.I came across the YouTube video by TP Nails where he shows step by step how to do the French manicure and the color dip. His directions were clear and easy to follow so I ordered this TP Nails American Manicure Kit. I knew there would be a learning curve, and expected it would take a good bit of practice but I was actually pleasantly surprised at my first try. (Pics included). I have short nails, and I like them that way BUT I like to have a manicured look. I like a clean, natural look, saving colored nails for special occasions or holidays. I will say, the step 2 reminds me of liquid superglue, it’s super thick and even smells like super glue- still nothing at all compared to the smell/fumes of acrylics.I suggest watching the YouTube video, several times before getting started. I guess I should also say that I have ‘less than steady’ hands and worried this could be a disaster. The pictures I included is my first try 1st- is without the last/top coat, the 2nd- is with the top coat. (Please don’t laugh 😂... there IS a learning curve. But I’m glad I ordered this set and will probably buy it again when it runs out.(⭐️)- The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because one of the jar lids (crystal powder base) was slightly opened/ajar causing the package to arrive with powder all over everything.

So easy to use and saves me $$$
This is a really great “beginner’s” kit! I followed the very easy-to-read directions and was very pleased with the results. I’ve had an electric manicure set for years and used it to file down any rough areas. It really saved a lot of work, so I recommend you invest in one if you intend to do your own nails instead of spending a fortune at the salon. I enjoyed doing it myself so much that I doubt that I’ll return to the salon! This kit makes 30+/- sets of nails ($1,400 savings for me!). A few things I learned: (1) use an electric manicure tool with “fine” grit paper. (2) use a THIN coat of the Gel Dip & Top liquid or else you’ll have a glob of dip powder on your. It’s better to do more “dippings” of thin coats than one thick coat. (3) I wiped the mouth of the Gel Dip & Liquid bottle as soon as I was finished with it so the lid wouldn’t stick. Some customers complained about the bottle breaking when they forced it open. I tested the bottle about an hour after I finished my nails two weeks ago, and again today. It opens easily. Yea! (4) use the plastic clips (cheap!) to hold the acetone-soaked cotton on your “old” nail coating to remove it. I could move around, drink my coffee and watch tv while soaking it off rather than sitting still for 20 minutes. (5) it’s imperative that you push back/clip your cuticles prior to even attempting to use this kit! And, try your darndest not to get any of the solution(s) on your cuticles. It will come off with some gentle scraping, but you’ll save time and sore cuticles if you avoid this upfront. I am having fun learning to do my own nails and I love doing it in the privacy and safety of my own home. I highly recommend this kit!

The Results are Glossy and Pretty, but It Takes Some Time
My nails are generally short with peels and splits. I love the salon SNS because they are so durable. I don't like the $60 it takes every two weeks to keep them up. This was my first adventure with a home DIY powder dip nail kit. Watching the video is a very good idea. I found it pretty easy to apply though I had to be very careful putting on the Gel Dip. It has to be even and complete or there will be ridges that have to be buffed out. I only put on two powder layers because I want to learn how hard it is to get them off. Taking off three layers of SNS is a project. After applying the activator it took some serious buffing to get my nails smooth and ready for the Prep/Top coats. Even then I finished with a top coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dry top coat. Because my nails are so short I had a problem with getting the Gel Dip on my finger tips and even under front the edges of my nails. Cleaning and peeling off the residue took some time. After all that (and an hour and a half) I am very pleased with the results. My nails look as glossy and pretty as the $60 treatment at the nail salon. I am sure I will be a little more confident and quicker the next time.

Great buy so far!
I ordered this in december 27th and said it would be delivered January 3rd or 4th but i recieved it early on decemeber 31st! Everything was packaged nicely and exactly as shown on the listing. All seems to be great quality and filled to the rim with product. You need to watch his videos on YouTube before you attempt this. Just go to YouTube and type in tp gel nails care and his page comes up with step by step instructions and tips. I don't know why people are complaining saying a top cost isn't included in this kit whenever it is clearly stated on here and in his videos that the step 2 polish is also the top cost. With that being said I'm not sure if it is the best top coat though. As you can see on my left hand picture, my ring and middle fingers are dull and kinda splotchy but my pinkie and right hand aren't as much. I'm thinking this is because I didn't buff enough however I did go ahead and add my own Sally Hanson Super Shine Top Coat polish to try and make it less noticeable. With the help of the videos, this system is awesome and so easy especially once i practice and get the hang of it and going to be a huge money and time saver. The only suggestion to the company I'd make is to make the bottle of the step 2 polish larger because you're obviously going to run out of it before either of the other two.I did my nails December 31st so I will come back and update on how long they lasted!UPDATE *** polish started lifting and chipped in less than a week. not happy! taking away my 5 stars because of this. Followed the videos exact and normally from the nail shop my dip nails last 3 weeks. also soaked off with acetone and several of my nails still broke off. hopefully the next go around will prove this wasn't a waste of money
