Football Kicking and Punting

My son wanted this book when he joined his middle school football team. It helped him perfect his kicking technique and become one of the best kickers in the state! I would recommend this book to any one who is interested in being a better kicker.

I decided as a person in my late 20's who never went to college, I would learn how to kick field goals and then walk on to a college team. This decision did not go well, but the book is pretty good. I'm now taking some college classes. School doesn't even have a football team. Bit of a failure in my life, but ya know...

Ray Guy is likely the best punter of all time, so what he says really means something. The book is pretty good, but it can be a little long-winded. I would have liked it more precise, maybe with summaries of key points. I had to do a lot of reading to get the main ideas, which are excellent. Anyone early in a kicking career should give the book consideration in order to learn the best ways to kick and punt.

A very detailed look at the mechanics of the kicking game. I would recommend this book for an intermediate skill level. It may be too overwhelming for a beginner but no true gems of information that can help an advanced athlete improve their game.

As a former high school football punter and placekicker (now teaching my 15 year old son how to kick) I feel that this book is excellent. I find it is amazing that the physical mechanics of kicking have been put into words so eloquently. The strategy of kicking according to game situation really impresses the importance of this skill not only for the kicker but for the entire team. Exercises and practice skills are included.
