This is great for writing on when wet or underwater. I'm not a diver, for the record; I'm a writer. As such, I've jumped out of the shower to jot down ideas more times than I care to think about. I realized a few weeks ago that there probably existed something that would let me keep my dignity intact and my bath mat dry, and my purchase of this slate was the result of that hunch. I didn't want a refillable pad (because inevitably I'd run out of sheets and forget to order more for days) so the reusable nature of the slate is perfect. It's also a great size: big enough to write even long paragraphs or extensive bulleted lists. So, probably not what the designers had in mind, but incredibly useful nonetheless.
