Hot Secrets: Tall, Dark and Deadly Book 1 Paperback – January 23, 2012

I was hooked from the first page. I truly enjoyed this book. It had a nice little twist at the end. I think I fell in love with Royce, myself!

Lauren is a lawyer with the District Attorney’s office and the daughter of a politician. Her father has aspirations that she will follow in his steps some day, however Lauren is more than content to serve the public in her current capacity. When Lauren becomes the victim of a stalker, she needs someone to help not only to keep her safe, but also to find out if Lauren is the victim, or if she is being used to get to her father.Royce is a former FBI agent that has started a private security agency with his brothers. He has held a flame for Lauren for quite sometime, and when he gets the opportunity to take her home that first night, he chooses not to sleep with her a she has had too much to drink. The two become closer and closer as the mystery and threat deepens until finally they give in to each other.Hot Secrets was hot and steamy with a side of intrigue and mystery. The plot was well-developed as were the characters. The ending was a little predictable, but I will definitely be continuing on with this series. Highly recommend for suspense fans.

Lauren is the Assistant District Attorney and has worked on many dangerous cases, she is known for this. She has a way of being able to block all the horrible things that come along with dealing with criminals and not letting it get to her. Even with the danger seeming to fall on her doorstep she keeps pushing on, she is a very strong woman. She tries her best not to let everything going on around get to her.Royce is asked a favor by Lauren 's father. He wants him yo look into the threats against her. He has always been attracted to Lauren, so he jumps on the opportunity,in order to get to know her better. Him and his brothers own their own private security business,he is also an ex FBI agent.Lauren and Royce have an instant connection and things move quickly. With her being in danger he seems to take control over every aspect of her life. She struggles with this and then realizes she likes having him there to protect her. Her stalker is crazy scary and seems to be one step ahead the whole time. when everything comes to a head, it was surprising who it turned out to be and who they were working with. Also one of the reasons for all of it was surprising ad well, at the length they would go to go get what they wanted.I truly enjoyed this book and loved how the brothers interacted with each other, I'm looking forward to reading about them in the next books.

The first book in the Tall, Dark & Deadly series is a riveting romance that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. Former FBI agent Royce Walker opened a private security firm with his brothers and has always had the hots for the prim and proper Assistant DA, Lauren Reynolds, so when her life is threatened he will do whatever it takes to protect her.This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps the adrenaline pumping with lots of suspense, drama and romance. The author uses well written scenes and events and well orchestrated timing and suspense to bring this story to life and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the intrigue and drama of Royce and Lauren’s story as the danger escalates. The strong compelling characters are easily related to and grab the reader’s attention and inspiring lots of curiosity to know more.The attraction between Lauren and Royce radiates extreme heat from every page and the sex scenes are so hot they explode with fiery passion that singes the reader. Lauren captures the reader’s heart with her shy insecure vulnerability when comes to men, which is in direct contrast to the strong, take charge lawyer and Royce makes hearts pound with overprotective bossy attitude that just screams sexy and hot. The story produces tears and outrage, laughter and smiles throughout the story and there is some fun snarky dialogue to spice things up as well.The author has created a great contemporary romance with three sexy and charming brothers that ensure that the reader wants to know about their stories. I was totally caught up in the story from the very beginning and the author managed to throw a few curve balls in there amongst all the personal conflicts as well professional conflicts that kept things real interesting.

Wanted a little more Information and Julie and that next book.. Lisa Renee Jones has a lot of t talent I going make sure I read more from her.

Once again, Lisa Renee Jones raises the bar! This book has eveything - plot twists, edge of seat suspence, and smoking hot passion. Can't wait for her next book

I liked this story. I have read some others written by Lisa and I liked them. She develops some real gritty plots and they are definitely not an under 18 book. She sure knows how to come up with headstrong yet fragile people to write about. Lauren is a Senator's daughter who has a wicked step-mother type with an evil strange step-brother. She wants her own merits to stay out of Daddy's shadow. Royce is ex-military and has a security business with his 2 brothers. He thought Lauren was a spoiled brat but she shows him she isn't. Royce is asked to protect her by her father. It was an anxious trip to the end. I changed villains several times and was still wrong. Try this book. It is a softer read by Lisa. I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.

Having read quite a few of this author's recent work and as the Walker Brothers feature in some of them, I was quite keen to read their stories. Hot Secrets didn't disappoint and as a bonus, I got to read the first chapter of her next release "Provocative." It's full of promise and Tiger is someone I would definitely want to get to know!Royce is ex FBI and one of three brothers running the Walker Security Company. He is the epitome of an alpha although he does have a soft side, reserved for a selected few.Lauren is the assistant to the District Attorney and is very successful as a prosecutor. She is independent but her father being a prominent politician, puts her in an awkward position. Her family situation doesn't help either.Lauren's father calls in a favour from Royce which leads to their first proper encounter. They have both been admiring each other from afar but that's as far as they got. Until now!During his investigations, Royce finds that Lauren could well be in danger. She is being threatened but who from? There are so many likely possibilities and he intends to get to the bottom of this problem. What he doesn't expect is his reaction to her. She feels the pull too, but having been bitten in the past, she is reluctant to "open up" to him. Something that becomes easier as they get to know each other.This story is well balanced with equal measures of mystery, suspense, intrigue and romance. The chemistry between Lauren and Royce is off the chart and the intensity of their relationship is enough to make sparks fly. It's hot! I like the way the brothers have each other's back.I loved this first enthralling instalment of Tall, Dark and Deadly and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Loved the main characters and would be interested to read more about the Walker brothers. And the sex scenes were good, allowing moments of real tenderness as well as typical alpha male bossing the female about.However I do agree with a previous reviewer. So many details missing or unexplained. What was the real relationship between Lauren & her father? Surely it had to be more than him just buying her off with expensive gifts or why would she keep putting herself through all that misery on the political scene. And how did the bad guy manage to infiltrate so many places so often when they were supposed to be under surveillance by the allegedly top notch firm the Walker brothers run?Still interested enough to try more in the series in the hope that we might get some more answers.

I've read this authors Werewolf Society series and found that to be fun so happily settled down to read this which is the first in a more contemporary style from Ms Jones . I've read quite a bit of romantic suspense so was quite intruiged to see what this author would bring that's new to the genre. This is the first in her Tall Dark and Deadly series about three brothers who run a security agency . These books although connected would seem to be standalone's so are a great idea.Lauren on paper has it all, loving family , amazing career and supportive friends but one thing she doesn't have in her life is a dependable man but that's about to change! Royce is one of the badass Walker boys and knows all about the seedier sides of life. Having being attracted to the aloof Lauran for some time when he finally gets to know her she's not at all what he expected. She's smart, she's almost sweet but she's all woman. Lauran is the kind of woman that Royce wants to unwrap but she's in danger and Royce is going to be the one that keeps her safe!Ok I have to start by saying that this was such a quick read that I'm a little dissapointed. Yes I am a bit of a speed reader but when I got this I did expect a longer story . Having said that I found that the story moved quickly along with a fast paced plot that kept me turning the pages. There's a nasty bad guy who right from the start feels uber creepy and poor Lauran is besieged by his reign of terror. Luckily there's a certain protective hot male who is about to come into her life and open her eyes and other things besides! Royce is a guy who goes after what he wants and gets it. Prepare to read a steamy story that although perhaps a little predictable nevertheless is very entertaining.I can honestly say it was a great little read but for me personally I'd like a longer book next time.

I enjoyed this tale of Lauren, who is being threatened as a result of her work as a barrister (American equivalent) and Royce who runs a security firm with his brothers. Royce is asked to protect Lauren and finds himself falling for her instead.I enjoyed some of this book very much. I liked the character of Lauren and understood her frustration with the political life and the compromises she has to make. I thought that Royce was great fun and I enjoyed the interaction between the two when she challenges his dominant behaviour. The sex scenes were very well written and nicely spicy without becoming boring.I did, however, have issues with the book because of a few loose ends in the plot. They were not huge, gaping holes in the story but a few things that didn't tie together. I never really understood Lauren's relationship with her father and his interaction with Royce seemed unfinished. The villain got into all sorts of places and even put in bugging equipment despite the surveillance of the Walker Brothers but we never found out exactly how this was achieved and the bugging equipment was ignored altogether after being mentioned once. We never really got to find out what the villain was trying to achieve by what he did because we never got to spend enough time with him to understand his motivation.This was a readable enough romantic suspense novel but it wasn't completely satisfying.

Until the brothers can track down the source her life could be at risk, and Royce is determined not to let his feelings and fear she'll leave him get in the way of her safety.Of course everything comes to a head just at the wrong moment. There's hot sensual sex, danger and threats, blackmail and betrayals, before we reach a climatic conclusion. Its good value at just 99p for 197 pages, but even better is the fact you can buy all three books for just 77p! Each book is connected but a complete, stand-alone novel.Stars: four, good fun sensual read. .

Pretty much like the prelude with a bit more detailed sex.Lauren is an attorney with a very high profile trial coming up causing her to receive death threats that's where Royce comes into it. He and his brothers own a security firm who are protecting her.Things hot up however when Royce can't resist Lauren's charms and falls into bed with her. The thing is Royce is keeping a little secret from Lauren that could end their relationship before it's begun.Again well written but there is definitely a pattern emerging with this series so I'm gonna give it a rest for a while. I really enjoyed this book and found myself glued to it right from the first page.I've been searching for a story with a gripping storyline for a little while now and this has it all: hunky alpha/caveman male lead, suspense, intrigue, mystery and a vulnerable female who needs saving!!!Royce is brought into Lauren's life by her father but immediately upon meeting her for the first time he realises it's where he wants to stay, forever.Royce, unsurprisingly, has two gorgeous brothers ready on the wings to take this series on and I can't wait to read more about Luke and Julie.Copy received from Netgalley for review purposes.

Really enjoyed this decent length free read. It had all the right ingredients to make this a great book - good storyline, likeable characters, step mum and brother from hell and great emotional sex scenes - so why only four stars? The author did really well building up the storyline with possible villains being brandies around, but when we get to the great finale, so many important details were left out and we were left hanging with Why's rather than having everything spelt out for us (all cut and dried), which is such a great shame. It is not very often that I don't see the ending and the baddie, but this book had me guessing up to the end. Recommended.

I love how this author, uses characters, from a previous book, and weaves them into the story, seamlessly! The story telling is effortless, and enjoyable! You're left, feeling a connection with the characters, as if they were long term friends!

The ending was a bit of a surprise but not in the league of some thrillers. Relationships are exciting enough though quite predictable. Wouldn't not recommend if you like sex and intrigue in your books.

First of the walker brothers stories and not a disappointment. Royce is a force for Lauren. Nice to read about the men behind Walker Security.

Hooked from the very first few pages couldn't put it down. Great read and definately worth a look. Has the alpha male that we are all secretly looking for and the damsel inm deistress that has balls of her own. Great Read!!!

Good book

Good book, great story although ended a little quickly. Definitely recommend to friends though! Now I just need to read about the other brothers; I'm intrigued!
