I’ve been using the RØDE Lavalier II for motorcycle recording, and after upgrading from the Purple Panda mic, I can confidently say this mic is a massive improvement across the board. The Purple Panda, on the other hand, felt like it was going to fail after just a few uses, often cutting out or producing muffled audio. I had a Tascam lapel mic recently break apart on the job and needed a lapel mic to pair with my Rode Wireless Go II. After looking up several reviews on YouTube I decided to go with the Rode Lavalier II. Overall the product is great! The wire is insanely sturdy and thin (made out of kevlar I believe) so I don't have to worry about it breaking. The mic itself is flat so you can get it behind a button up shirt or tape it easily to a shirt if needed. As we know with most lavalier mics there is always need to EQ the end result due to lav's pickup pattern but I feel like this mic gives outstanding sound even without editing the final product. Overall glad I picked it up and will be using it for all my corporate interviews in the future.

Brand new item. Great addition But ... I nearly returned this. Glad I did not. Used it with Rode Wireless Go (Gen 3). It sounds very good. It looks great. It is high quality. However customers might want to know that on first use it failed. It connected from Tx to Rx but no audio level change on Rx. I powered off the devices and an hour later, I tried again. Perfect, as you would expect. You may need to do the same. Once past that it really is a nice piece of equipment.

Outstanding recording quality from a lavalier microphone. I have one I use in my studio and two that I use with the Rode Wireless Pro when I'm recording out of the studio.

The likelihood of you finding a better designed Lavalier under $100 is pretty much zero. They reimagined the shape of the microphone and made something that makes way more sense than your traditional style lav. It’s really easy to hide. I use it to make better quality videos of my stand-up comedy. And I don’t want a big bulky microphone sticking out when I’m on stage but I can put this one on my shirt on the outside where you can see it and it’s hardly noticeable because it’s so flat. And indoors you don’t need the windscreen, so I just run it how it comes out of the box. I also really like the cord being flat, and on a scale of one to 10 I would rate the field quality at an 8 and the visual appearance at 10. It’s beautiful

Pros: A great little Lav. Captures full spectrum audio at very high quality. Moved to this from the original Rode Lav Pro. Has quite a different profile. Lot more bottom end. Sounds great flat, but with a tiny bit of EQ you can really get that studio quality sound. Works fine both indoors and out. The new front capsule placement allows a lot more had movement than the 1st gen. Comes with a useful selection of bits including a pop shield and a mini dead cat; and a nice hard case. Cons: The clip isn't the most secure in the world. It's fine when it works, but it is very easy to dislodge when placing on clothing. Also I use a different deadcat to the one supplied and that can knock off the clip too when you're placing it. Once you put on a popshield or deadcat you can no longer see which side the capsule is on. If you already have the clip in place then you can tell from that, or you could put a dab of nail varnish or something maybe to indicate which side is the front? But you may find yourself pulling everything off just to check. Overall: In summary, despite its minor flaws, this is a top quality product. If you already have a Rode Pro Lav then I wouldn't bother upgrading just for the sake of it. Those sound great too. But if you are in the market for a new mic, then this is probably the one to go for.

Although you can find cheaper options than the RODE Lavalier II, you won't find much better in terms of quality for the price. The audio is crisp and clear and the build quality is fantastic. The cable is made of Kevlar and and port feels very sturdy with an optional locking mechanism (if your microphone system supports it). The provided case is also great, with a hard protective shell and a couple of pockets for accessories. The only issue I had with this mic was getting the lavalier clip to stay on the microphone tightly, as it kept falling off. However, after messing around with it for a bit I have gotten it in the perfect position that seems to hold it in place nicely. It would be nice if there were instructions included on the best way to fit this clip to the microphone. Already thinking of picking up a second one! Would highly recommend.
