The last page of the instruction manual looks like it’s being mounted on the wall, is that optional? Also,is that the only step where I’d need hammer?

We did not mount it to the wall, although if you have small children who like to climb and topple it, it is a good idea. No kids in this household, and we are renters, so we skipped that. We did not use a hammer for any part of the assembly.

Am I able to request none textured plexiglass? If not, Would it be easy to swap for either real glass or none textured plexiglass?

I don’t know about asking them to build it without the plexiglass but you probably wouldn’t be able to cut out the plexiglass and replace it. It’s placed between the wood material so even if you cut the plexiglass out, I don’t think there’s any way to then replace it with glass or something non-flexible. If you cut the plexiglass out, you’d see the slot between the wood where it sat. I also would like to replace it but I’m not up for all the rework lol. You could probably take a small handheld saw and cut the back part of the door down to the plexiglass and then you could set glass into the back and adhere it with brackets or a very strong glue. You could also cover the plexiglass with a mirror film or contact paper if you don’t want the plexiglass look. Hope this gives you some ideas.
