ALTRA Men's Torin 5

Torin 5 is okay, but not as good as previous versions
I’ve owned many earlier versions of the Torin and it is my favorite Altra shoe for comfort. I have two pairs of the Torin 4 which in my opinion is the best version. The Torin 5 is smaller with a slightly tighter toe box. I have always worn size 10 in Altra shoes, but with the Torin 5, I had to return a size 10 and get a 10.5. Once I got the larger size, the fit was right and I liked the Torin 5 a lot better. The tongue issue many have complained about hasn’t affected me since I wear ankle socks. Overall the Torin 5 is good but not quite as comfortable as previous versions. In spite of the changes, I still bought two pairs. I wish Altra would quit changing a good thing.

Vertical Thickness of Toe Box
Generally, these are good shoes. The insole provided is comfortable but too thick if I wear socks--even sock liners-with the shoes. My sensitive feet sometimes feel the tops of the toe boxes when I move, so I need to use this barefooted. That said, I was pleased to find shoes that are 1.) Shaped like feet and 2.) large enough for my feet.

Most comfortable shoe I've owned in my entire life
I bought a pair at an Altra outlet store and it is the most compfortable show I've ever owned in my life. I like it so much that I looked for another pair and found it on Amazon for the same price. I'm tempted to buy even another pair. I am older, have wide feet, and walk every day. These have a good toe box and I nice thick springy sole (older feet lose the fat on the bottom and thin soled shoes are painful on hard surfaces). The arch support is in the right place under my foot unlike all other brands. Still can't believe I found these. I don't know how long they will hold up, will write another review when I find out. If you have wide feet and a nigh instep, try these out!

Tech is reducing the comfort
I have had various version of the Torin and this rendition is still good, but the technology is getting in the way of the comfort. I find the toe section to be getting tighter and the toe reinforcing on the front catches on my toe nails slightly.

Almost perfect
The materials that make up the tongue are stiff. When I wear shorty socks, it abrades the area it touches. If the socks are longer it is fine.Otherwise, I like the shoes. Good for long runs.

For people with wide feet.
These are my go to shoes, they're comfortable for being on my feet all day and work and the zero drop wide toe box makes them great for lifting too. However, I personally like more cushion for running. You can really feel every step in these.I have wide feet and high arches and work on my feet all day. I used to have chronic foot pain, switching to altras has kept me pain free for 3 years.

Great Shoe. Terrible Tongue.
I've been wearing Altras since the early model Instinct. Love the zero-drop design. I've been wearing Torins since 2018, averaging 30 miles a week on trails and beach. The Torin 5 is an incredibly comfortable shoe, and a great fit for my foot. But the tongue is made out of a stiff material with a sharp (not padded) edge. It digs into the front of my ankle on every step, even with socks that come up past the tongue. What a shame to have this one bad design choice spoil an otherwise outstanding shoe. Really hope they fix the tongue on the next gen Torin. BTW, I normally where a size 7.5 to 8, and in Altra I consistently wear 8.5, so think about ordering up a half size. Wide foot box is fantastic for feet like mine.

Great fit
I have been running in Altras for several years. This shoe used the original wide foot form, which is a better fit for me. Some other Altras use a more traditional foot shape, for which I need a 1/2 size larger.

Dutch Mud Men Good Products Good Value
I found them very helpful and their product was exactly what I was looking for. I had a problem which they resolved immediately so i give them a 5 Star and would buy from them again

Confort e protezione

Honestly one of the best 0 drop shoe , point blank !
Each opinion is subjective , we all know this . Yes , there is a real issue with the tong , nothing short of design and implementation flaw .. but with a sock if should not bather you and if you like thicker socks , you could try a half size bigger shoe . Running smaller - I would not say that. The previous models run a bit lager and this is just perfect fit for me . Because of the tong being to short and made out of material that is not soft enough I am taking away one star. Fixing the tong would make this shoe perfect ! All have also Escalante and Lone Peak as well and all of them are exactly what I needed .
