Faith of My Fathers (Chronicles of the Kings #4)

Not as good as the first 3 books
The first three books in this series were EXCELLENT; these last two kind of were lacking for me. I hate to compare them to the first three but I felt like there wasn’t as much character development in these last two. There are some good points to be made and lessons to be learned though, but they just didn’t hit home for me. I felt like the entire store revolves around Manasseh and Joshua’s hatred towards one another and wanting revenge, and additionally there were some beloved characters that were killed off. It’s not a terrible book, just not the best of the series. Stick with the first three.

Generations
This book really highlights the impacts parents leave on their children in many ways, but most importantly, faith wise. It also brings to attention the many lies of ‘new age’ contemporaries that alter scripture. Faith of my Fathers is essentially a showdown between childhood friends who become bitter enemies in an ultimate battle between good and evil. The Lord and the world.

wonderfully written and authentic.
Lynn Austin’s ability to bring this part of Israel’s history to life is incredible! She has been faithful to the Bible and to the history of this time of the Kings of Jerusalem and the true faith in God. I was never lost in too much description and enjoyed the natural flow of these amazing stories of Kings, war, faith and love. An enjoyable read to gain insight into the life of Israel’s people.

Great book
We appreciate how well the story aligns with scripture and yet draws us into the lives of the characters. When we read the biblical accounts, we cannot help but refer back to the story we just read in this book. It gives us a whole new perspective to the struggles faced by the biblical characters and how they are not much different from the struggles we face today.

Hilary Clinton
I admired Barbara Olson when listening to her commentaries on Fox News. I was shocked and saddened that she died on the plane that went into the Pentagon September 11. This book is relevant today especially. People should know what Hilary Clinton is like if they are considering voting for her this year. I wonder if Barbara would be shocked that this woman is now the nominee for the Democratic party. It is amazing to me that the Clinton's have continued this far without being exposed for their crimes. They have been exposed somewhat today but the administration is so corrupt that even with evidence they will not prosecute her. The book is not titillating but straight forward in it's reporting of some of the Clinton scams and lies that began before Clinton became governor of Arkansas.

faith of my fathers
I just want to thank the author for writing this books. I can't stop reading and can't wait for more. I love God and my faith in Him is absolute- but these books strengthen my faith and made me understand more the human hearts and minds. I understand more how evil deceives people. Not any people, but the God fearing people, and he wants us- the faithful and believing In God, and following God people- to fail, and twisting God's words to distort our faith, to lead us away from God. We have to stay close to God and his words ( the BIBLE) no matter what, and know that God has a good plan for us. We just have to understand that away from His presence and His laws, we are in danger of loosing our Christian identity and our place in His presence. Please read all the books in this series of Chronicles of the Kings!!!

Strong characters
This is not a feel-good story due to the biblical account of an ungodly king. Nevertheless, it is well written, holds your attention, and ends on a good note. Some discretion is needed if reading to a younger audience (we read through it as a family).

So well researched and reads like a novel - but pulls no punches
I have completed the series now and found it so well done - history is history but this provides much understanding carried forward from Biblical times to the present and brings it home. So well researched and reads like a novel - but pulls no punches. I read them one after the other - hardly able to put them down. The description of some events was difficult to experience but brought awareness of how bitterness and hatred can hold us hostage - crossing generations and we are released only when forgiveness can be applied. Sounds trite but is so apt. Are we prepared to know that? I look forward to more books from this author.

Please publish Book 5 in Kindle format!!!
I downloaded the first book of Lynn Austin's 'Chronicles of the Kings' and couldn't put it down. Needless to say I read the next 3 in the series with similar enjoyment only to find when I got to the end of Book 4 that there is actually a Book 5 which would conclude the story of King Manasseh. I can't tell you my disappointment when I realised that Book 5 is not in Kindle format. Absolutely loved this series of books by Lynn Austin but can't understand why only 4 of the 5 books are in Kindle format - very frustrating as now feel compelled to buy book 5 in paperback and will not have the full series in either format!
