While the description of the three models is not particularly clear, I was happy with the descriptions on the Wheeler site. The guides are really well made, with tight dimensions, good features, and an excellent finish. I have two, both for AR platforms, one each .3xx family and .2xx family. The solvent port makes dosing of the patch an easy and clean process, and the fact that they lock into the ejection port cover prevents any unwanted movement during use.

I just bought this and have uced it one time it fits perfectly in the upper its made of at metal or aluminium it's not heavy for its size . I not worried about it damaging the bolt reciever bore . It seats so firmly There is no reason to spend more than this for a bore guide . This does the job well. If I ever needed one agian I would buy this one. I'm sure this will out last my Ar. There is nothing here to where out. This will protect your bore entrance on your upper so your cleaning rod enters strait into the bore not damaging the bolt reciever.if you own a AR Then you need this if you don't already have a bore guide .

I should have purchased this before I ever fired a single round through my AR. I have a bore guide for my bolt gun but after cleaning my AR a couple times without one it became clear that it was time to look around. I bought this wheeler guide over all the other ones based on the reviews and the design of the product. I am happy to say that I am very pleased with this and out of all the stuff you can get for an AR pattern rifle this should be one of the first. It fits snugly into the upper receiver and as designed it locks firmly in place when you close the dust cover on the ejection port. To remove the guide you turn it 90 degrees clockwise to line up a beveled part of the locking ring area that will push open the dust cover when you pull the guide. The quality is much more than you would expect for the price. Where the cleaning rod enters the back of the guide is machined in such a way that it is easy to line the cleaning rod up as it is rounded from the outer edge to the inside edge or the guide hole. The fact that this bore guide is made of metal means that when you insert and retract it you can feel it rubbing against the inner surface of the upper. I can't say I really like that as with repeated use it could cause scratching the surface. A rod made out of some type of harder plastic would be better for this reason. The ID of the guide rod tube is larger than that of a barrel so there is still some potential there for a less than perfect alignment when the rod leaves the guide and enters the barrel. Here I would have preferred that the ID be exactly the same as the barrel ID. Overall I would buy this again in a heartbeat but with the quality I don't think that will ever be an issue. It is MADE IN CHINA and that I do not like. I would rather pay twice as much and have a MADE IN USA on there.

Works great for 223/556, wylde, or even custom match chambers. The only thing that I dislike is that the rubber seal sometimes has a bit of trouble when backing it out after cleaning, but that's an extremely minor point. I guess also it can sometimes drip a bit of solvent into the chamber when using, but you should be chamber brushing that out anyways, so that doesn't really matter.

Overall this is an outstanding bore guide. The way the dust cover locks it in to the upper is great. The 2 sizes of o rings are nice to have so you can always get a snug fit no matter the rifle. Biggest complaint about this bore guide is the lack of o ring in the part that goes in the chamber. This can allow solvent to seap into the chamber. If using a solvent like hoppes 9 that has a copper solvent included, you must remove the bore guide and carefully remove all the solvent from the chamber or it eats your brass inside the chamber... Big mess. So I end up having to use the bore guide twice. Hoppes to clean the chamber then insert bore guide hoppes down the barrel. Run patches down the barrel till dry. Remove bore guide thoughly dry chamber. Reinstall bore guide clp down the barrel. Remove bore guide clp in chamber. Creates a bit of extra work but gets the job done. Wish the could engineer a solution to seal the bore from the chamber.

This is almost as good as the JP Enterprises one for a bit less money. I particularly appreciate the way it locks in the receiver through the dust cover. Build quality is solid. Fits 300 blk. Would recommend.
