I dont think this is ideal for hiking or for near water use since the cover wear you plug the charger seems to pop out very easily. However in case of an emergency you can use it as a weapon to defend yourself against your attacker. I would def reccomend this product for home usage and great to have just in case u lose power. The strobe effect is great for halloween ans parties. I do think the price is too high since it does not have the USB capability. At least mine didnt have that option.
