Pitched and Caught!
Ohhh i loved this one! Serious heart eyes!I felt these two so much! Their connection and working their way through these new feelings they had was amazing! It left me teary and heartbroken and devastated and finally so freaking happy!Dom (Girard) was such a cuteheart. I just loved him. He was so sweet and thoughtful. His understanding and the way he read Mason (Maclain) was perfect. I also loved how he was williing to try and the way he lead the relationship was just swoony!Mason.... ahhhh sweet sweet Mason. I swear if i could i would have hugged him the whole way through the story. Although in parts that may have been awkward :/ lol but for real! Gah that boy needed hugs! He broke my heart. The stuff with his step-dad made me fume! I don't even wanna call him step-dad. Guardian maybe, dunno but Dad or parent he cetainly was not! Mason was so beautiful behind those walls he built i just melted. Even when he was hurting he was still aware of others feelings, pushing himself aside and only a few saw that part of him. I kinda felt special to read it. Like i was part of his small circle of trust. The two of them together were off the charts! Not only beautiful and loving but hot hot hot! Their first tentative joinings threw off a ton of heat! Phewwww! They're just all the things! Love them!Lovely to see Brady and Kellan again here too and Dominic's family were a real joy!I loved the storyline. Even though i hated it too because it hurt my boys. This book just ticked all my boxes and now i want more!Brilliant story of two guys discovering each other and finding family in each other. Loved! All the stars from me!

Nice sequel to Bat Boy...
Not as good for me as Bat Boy, but God did I want to keep hugging Mason Maclain and tell him that everything would be alright eventually. Touch starved, lonely and confused, he brought out all of my maternal instincts, and I could've cheerfully punched his stepfather for practically abandoning him at college and leaving him to struggle alone, never turning up when he said he would cos he was always 'busy'. 4.25 stars.Thank goodness for Dominic and his family, and the rest of the Pirates team for their support and understanding. No mention at the end of the read that there would be another story in the series, and no other players were particularly 'favoured' in the narrative, so your guess is as good as mine.

Perfect
I wondered, after reading Bat Boy, whether Maclain would get his own book or not. There was something about his fierce determination to keep everyone at bay that called to me. I’m so glad he has his own book, and, to be honest, I think I loved this more than Bat Boy. You don’t need to have read that book to enjoy this one, though. While characters do overlap, there is enough explanation of the relationships in the book that is more important than the actual plot of book 1 (although it is a great book; if you haven’t read it, you’ll want to read it after you’ve read this). This really concentrates on the relationship between Maclain and Girard; a bi-awakening for both. These two are pitcher and catcher (literally—it’s a baseball book). They rub each other the wrong way, but this is mainly due to Maclain, who is closed off to everyone. Raised by a stepfather, who has little time for him, has taught him to turn inward to try to cope. So, when his feelings for Girard develop into something he struggles to define, he isolates himself even more. Girard, too, knows things are changing, and when they are forced to share a room for away days, he faces the fact that his feelings for Maclain are real; that there’s more to Maclain than he allows others to see, and he starts to accept that they are not as straight as they might have thought. What I loved about this book is the journey these two take. We really see their fears; especially Maclain who is just so desperate to connect, despite his denials and attempts to keep the world at bay. The banter and snarling between them is funny and sweet, but there are real moments of breathtaking honesty that will blow you away. When Girard first vocalizes his attraction, I wanted to cheer and hug him at the same time. The author doesn’t make it easy, but then in real life it wouldn’t be. They have to face their acceptance, of who they are, at their own pace. Girard is just wonderful, caring, and loving; he challenges Maclain, but always gives him the support and space he needs. It is easier for Girard to accept these changes in himself, as he comes from a loving family. Maclain will break your heart; he's so desperate for love but so scared to leave himself vulnerable. This is a beautiful love story, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. You will fall in love with this pair. I absolutely guarantee you.

A wonderfully written story
I am loving this series so far! Home Plate is a little different to book one in the series as we have an enemies to lovers story here between pitcher, Maclain, and catcher, Girard (cue the jokes on those player positions). The tension between the two was evident in the first book of the series but gets taken to a whole new level as they are made to share a room when at away games as a way of bonding. The exploration and back and forth that they experience together is both heartwarming and hard as it becomes clear how little Maclain thinks of himself. My heart went out to him as he's constantly let down by his stepfather and keeps himself at arms length from pretty much all of the team until he's forced to share space with Girard. Their banter becomes needed instead of dreaded and adds a bit of levity to some situations, whilst the secret crushes slowly heat up until neither can take much more. I absolutely love how Girard gets to know Maclain and starts to sense when he can and cannot push, noticing the struggles that the other man goes through. It's wonderful to read what they become, individually and together. This is a slow burn story with a lot of emotion packed in as these two seniors in their last year of college explore together whilst helping to bring out the best of each other. I adore Girard's family who clearly love him very much and those that he counts as important, along with the Pirate's baseball team. They are entertaining when together and have come a long way since the start of the first book. Cannot recommend this book and the series enough!I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Bueno

Love these two!
While I enjoyed Kellan and Brody's story I must say I love this one more. Mason and Dominic starting as not necessarily enemies but not friends I think is what made this book better for me. Reading how they grow to be friends and more while also coming to terms with who they are themselves is something of an emotional rollercoaster at times. I felt so sorry for Mason and wanted nothing more than to hug and protect the prickly pitcher. But seeing how he was treated as an afterthought by his stepdad did shine a light on why he was so closed off and moody. This was a great book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Sweet and tender
I found MacLain and Girard's story to be alot more engaging. MacLain especially was a very endearing character. And it was slow burn and angsty but it was also tender and made me smile loony with how innocent their exploration of eachother was.Great book and I'm definitely going to miss the baseball guys.

Beautiful and heartwrenching read!
This was both beautiful and heartwrenching! There was so much more to Maclain/Mason than we saw in the first book - how he kept his sanity at times is beyond me. Girard/Dominic was the perfect counterpart for him - their chemistry was intense, both before and after they gave into it. I loved the Girard family and how accepting and welcoming they were. I also loved seeing the support and acceptance their team had for them, and I'm not specifically talking about when they came out, rather how they operated as a team and looked out for each other. Definitely a book I'd recommend, as with anything by this author - just go read book 1 first if you haven't already.

Loved tense relationship!
I really enjoyed Dominic and Mason. They had a very tense teammate relationship to start out. Not exactly the best of friends, but there was something simmering underneath. Once they admitted their attraction to each other, the sparks flew. I liked that they were new to this situation and were figuring things out together. Things built slowly between them, which I loved. Dominic’s family was the best. I loved how they welcomed Mason with open arms. My heart broke over Mason’s family life. I was very happy to see him receive that kind of love and support. I am really loving this series and the amazing characters.
