a door stop that holds on windy days
A magnetic door stop that is heavy duty like this one is hard to fine. This fella's almost identical to one I installed over 25 years ago (the rusty & aged one on the left in a comparison photo). This stop is intended for exterior doors (solid core w/3 hinges). The screws that come with it are 3/4" #4's slotted; I used 1" #8's, phillips, stainless but would have used 6's if I had some on hand. Being plastic I ream the screws holes for the larger screws and tightened them with my drill set at a low torque setting (photo) rather than use a driver; not wanting to chance cracking the plastic mounts. Being the first reviewer is chancy but this item turned out good and I've ordered another. Delivery from China took a slow boat, 4 weeks.
