Great for a beginner, not for an experienced user.
I am not a professional flute/piccolo player, and bought this in order to play piccolo again. This is a great value for the price, however the sound quality isn't the greatest. In the box, I received a cleaning cloth, cleaning rod, hard case, grease, and the piccolo itself. I was surprised to receive the grease as I had read other reviews saying they didn't get it. The piccolo was wrapped in a layer of tissue paper and covered in small plastic sleeves. There weren't any scratches or defects in the finish. When I play it, the notes sound very airy. Also, the case is a nice sturdy hard case, but the inside doesn't hold the piccolo tightly and there isn't much room to keep the cleaning cloth inside. I ended up cutting mine and using about two-thirds for cleaning the metal and the last third with the cleaning rod.On the other hand, this is built really well. I don't feel like it's going to snap in my hands if I hold it too tight, and the keys all work without being hard to close like I've seen with other instruments. This would be good for a beginner as the notes are easy to hit. The color is nice as well - mine looks to be on the "warmer" side of the spectrum while still having that nickel color. All in all, this is a really good value for the price, but don't expect it to be like the more expensive options. If you are a beginner wanting to try the piccolo, this is a good entry-level instrument for not a lot of investment.

Great starter piccolo to play around with - with UPDATE
Got this as a gift for my daughter to play around with. She is a flute player. She loved this piccolo and took right to it.! Not the highest quality around but I'm surprised it doesn't seem real cheaply made either. The tone I'm told is a little sharp or metallic. This is definitely not a concert quality instrument, but she has used it some at school (7th grade) pep rallies and one small part in a concert. it's a fantastic value for the price and a great piccolo to learn on and play around with before purchasing a better one. This little inexpensive piccolo started something for my daughter when she was in junior high school. She loved it! And you know, it sounded pretty good! She still plays flute, but this inexpensive piccolo it sparked a love for playing the piccolo with her. She upgraded to a nicer piccolo over time and got better and better. In high school she's been All Region flute, but nows she's also All Region and All Area on the piccolo. This piccolo is a such great gift for a young flute player that is curious about trying the piccolo.

Great value - excellent student instrument
Just arrived in the mail. Got it for a 5th grade flute player to learn (and a 40-something year old flute player to remember). It was packaged securely and arrived without issue and ahead of the estimated date. We broke it out immediately and were very happy with it.While it is probably not going to carry her through the NY philharmonic orchestra, it is definitely going to add to her enjoyment of music through he next couple years. For the price, it is a wonderful option for a beginner or hobbyist.

Screwy lol
This instrument is so cute! I use it in marching band because our colors are green, white, and black. It tunes fairly easily. One thing that has been a slight problem is the screw on the short rod beneath the other rods, the one that holds is responsible for the A flat key (the hockey stick one - left hand pinky). A few weeks after I got this instrument, I realized something sounded funny. The A flat key was also rubbing the key next to it as if it had slid out of position. I looked over the instrument, and found that the screw on the A flat key had come very unscrewed. I was able to fix it myself, but if you don't trust yourself to unscrew all the rods on your instrument to get beneath them, don't do it! I had to put an enormous amount of trust in myself and my hands! However, a few weeks later, it was starting to come unscrewed again.

Coloured piccolo
It works and is a funky colour my daughter loves it very good price. I have heard that they don't last long as they are not good quality but I also bought a coloured flute which has lasted over a year now so I'm hoping the piccolo will last too but this was bought to see if my daughter could play it and wants to learn before I have to go out and spend a fortune on a branded name. I was very surprised at how small it was after seeing the flute for so long but it is very cute and comes with a box timer oil cleaner all good. Would recommend this to beginners and kids wanting to learn this instrument.

Fantastic beginners piccolo
This is a nice piccolo. My daughter was playing the flute, and the senior who was graduating that played the schools piccolo complained about it. So, we bought this inexpensive piccolo for her to take his place when he graduated. It has worked. She is now the solo piccolo player for the school. She loves it. She is more comfortable as a soloist and is loving this instrument. The only thing bad thing is that some of the long hinges along the side have become bent after long use, but the local music store was able to fix them.

Good for beginners.
I began on the flute when I joined my school band and learned all the notes and keys. I was required to purchase a piccolo and so I searched Amazon until I came across this one. The sound quality is good and it is easy to play, the only issue I have with it is the material (metal) used to make it is cheap and low quality. It looks good and sounds good but if you are looking for a piccolo for long term use, I would not recommend this one.

Pleasant surprise
I purchased this piccolo for my flutist granddaughter, who suddenly desperately wanted a piccolo. We both loved the purple color and were glad it did not have the nickel keys we had been warned to avoid. Her teacher thought it was better than he had expected for the modest price we paid. Although it supposedly did not qualify for rapid shipping, it arrived from the vendor in California on Monday even though I had ordered it only on Saturday(we are in Indiana). In short, we were both surprised and pleased.
