The best guitar nut files
StewMac tools are the highest quality around and have lifetime replacement guarantees. They ARE very expensive, though. I have lusted over these for a long while, and when they went on sale for 50% off, i had to get them. They haven't disappointed. I've used them on 3 guitars so far and they work great. My only gripe would be that the files for the high B and E strings are kind of flimsy, but that can't be helped because they have to be to cut such small slots. They do make handles for them but that's an extra cost and you CAN manage without them. No doubt, these are the best nut files you will find and they will probably last you forever.

Work well. Probably best solution.
I help with free repair of instrument donated to Jam Pak Blues and Grass Neighborhood Band. (I also teach banjo to the kids for free. Two of my students came in first and second a the Wickenburg, AZ Bluegrass Festival this year!) I'm a totally amateur luthier but found lots of info on YouTube. These files are now part of my tool kit. Have used them on nuts and bridges of banjos, mandolins, violins and guitars. I am happy with these tools... The instruments came out well and are playable! I got the string heights right!

How much? Yes, they are worth the price.
For a while I've been pondering on getting a set of guitar, not files. I have a small collection of guitars and some of them need some work. My local guitar luthier unfortunately moved away so I decided to give it a try and do some work myself. I watch plenty of YouTube videos on how to use these files and they're pretty straightforward. A little can take out a lot so be careful when you use these. But I definitely recommend getting these if you have more than a few guitars that might need some work on the nut.

Does the job good size set
Since this is the first nut file set I have I don't really have a comparsion point. These do the job and seem to work well. The sizes are pretty close for standard 10 set and seemed to cut the slots fine. The one thing is they are bit flexable on the thinner ones so a bit hard to control. Overall I'm happy with the results so far.

Very precise and controllable results!
Very nice results when these are used compared to others that I've tried! I still use my starter files to get a slight notch going because it gets me in the groove and sets up my rocking space nicely, but then it's time to do the job and get to the right depths quickly and perfectly. Checking often and not overdoing the pressure works best...

Cute little snake, don’t bite?
Every once in a while you got to pet the snake. These work great but are over priced as usual. Should I boy stock in this company? Sure would help mitigating the heavy surcharge. Used 4 months (10 jobs), no idea as to longevity. Diamonds are forever right?

Worth the price if you take care of your tools.
I've bought cheaper nut files before, but these seem to be made of a higher quality material that will last much longer. I like that they were made for medium electric strings specifically, 10-46, instead of having to get the average 9-42 files and just wiggle a bit to widen the gap. They are expensive, but if you take care of your tools, these will last a long time.

Soooooo worth the price!
These files are literally the best! 5 stars all day. I realized one day that I own WAY too many guitars and can't afford setups on them all. But I mainly wanted them to file the nut slots on a Gibson Les Paul Classic. Nut was so high that my 1st 4 to 5 frets were WAY too sharp sounding. Fixed in 40 minutes! Highly recommended!
