I bought the Whirley Pop Stainless Steel Stovetop Popcorn Popper because I was tired of tasteless Air-Popped Popcorn!I chose the stainless steel version as I am trying to get away from using aluminum cookware. The bottom part of this popper is a nice, heavy quality stainless steel. The top is kind of on the flimsy side and you have to really mess with the tabs that keep the top on the popper pan. It clips on fairly firmly, but the 2 sides can open and close. One side has a metal clip and that needs to be carefully bent so that it will keep that side closed when you go to dump out the popcorn into a big bowl. Otherwise that side of the lid will flop open and you will have popcorn all over the place!Another thing to mention:After popping the corn, that popper pan is extremely hot, hot, HOT! It will melt any plastic it touches, like a popcorn bowl! It also will burn any fabric potholder or towel you might decide to set it on. So just carefully pour your popcorn into a non-plastic bowl, or be sure not to bump the popper to a plastic bowl if that is what you are using. Then, place that very hot popper back on your turned off stove for it to safely cool down. The bottom of the popper is an extra thick stainless clad aluminum so it really does hold the heat, but that is what also makes the awesome popcorn too!With all the above said, this popper is actually very easy to use. After I finally got the hang of using it, figuring out how long to pop, and how high to turn up my gas stove, I was able to make some very awesome popcorn!Here is how I finally ended up making my Popcorn:I use 1/2 cup of the Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Popcorn Kernels, Original Yellow corn.1 Tbs of good quality Coconut Oil.1/2 Tbs of Nutiva USDA Certified Organic, non-GMO, Cold-Filtered, Unrefined, Fair Trade Ecuadorian Red Palm Oil.1/4 Tsp of Flavacol Seasoning Popcorn Salt.I put all this stuff into the popper BEFORE heating it, as recommended by the seller! I then turn on my gas stove to medium high and start turning the crank and I also quickly slide the popper back and forth too. Be sure to remove the popper from the heat as soon as the popping slows, as the bottom of the popper is very hot and stays hot for a while.As far as ease of cleaning...The bottom part of the popper washes out fairly easily, but the top is a pain to clean.Since I use the flavocol in the popper, I like to actually wash the entire unit out so that the salt does not corrode the metal. That top part is not fun to wash, or to dry.All in all, it is totally worth the extra trouble to have really awesome popcorn! I do recommend this popper!

If you follow the instructions it will work perfectly. We generally use 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and a half a cup of kernels. Drop it on the stove at medium to high heat and literally within three minutes you have fully popped perfect popcorn. And like they say let the popcorn rest for a few minutes before adding toppings and you have the best popcorn in history. Couldn’t be more happier.

Replaced my old air popcorn popper.- This one is much quieter- no mess- can't break down because the stove top does the work- easy to take apart and clean- no burnt popcorn- took me about 1 to 2 minutes.Well made and not expensive.Only add 1 tsp of vegetable oil, add the popcorn, turn on the stove top, stir using the handle and 1 to 2 minutes later its all done.
