I have never worked with studs before but these are so pretty I had to get them. I have some leather I hope to make into costumes and I think these will look great on them. The studs are beautiful with vivid colorful rhinestones. Each one has a vibrant color surrounded by clear stones in a gold-tone setting. I haven't tried placing them yet so not sure how well they will lock to the backs. I think they are gorgeous, I love the colors and they come in a nice case that locks tight so they don't spill. Overall I really like these and recommend them.
