D'Addario XL Nickel EJ21 Electric Guitar Strings, Jazz Light 12-52

I Switched over to D'Addario strings in the early 1980's. In that time I've try just about every new string that's come out but I keep coming back to D'Addario. I typically use this gauge set on my hollowbody guitars for jazz and blues. I bought this set to try on one of my acoustics because I wanted the wound 3rd string but the phosphor bronze sets usually found on acoustics turn my fingers green. These work like a charm. I have another acoustic I am going to try the same set with but I am going to swap out the wound 3rd string for a lighter gauge unwound string to facilitate larger bends. I can't say enough good things about D'Addario strings. After 40 + years of playing them they just feel and sound like home.

This set of 3 is such a good deal. They sound great on my tele. They are bright, but not too much. I’ll buy again.

I use these 12s on everything. This is the baseline string for me. It is just the nominal string. I don't much use other strings. I will PROBABLY try other strings again, and I would guess I will return to these strings AGAIN. I more or less only know these. Can't live without them.

If you have an acoustic guitar with a magnetic pick up, these are the strings you should be using. They are also the strings you should be using if you're playing a Rickenbacker guitar looking for Beatles Tone.

As advertised, these are real D'Addario strings.

These Jazz Light strings have the same specs as the originals on a Godin 5th Avenue guitar. I've used them for 5 years. I wish I could buy them in larger quantity at a discount.

I do not like the really light strings on most electrics. These strings are great if you want strings that stay in tune and work well with a capo. Still bright and lively sound

Have used these strings for a long time. Last year or so I've noticed them breaking a lot on a guitar I haven't been using as often. After being on the Gtr 1 month I was finding multiple strings where the loop around the ball end had let go. Last time there were 3 strings that did this which has caused the truss rod in my neck to seize due to the fact that there was no counter pressure from the strings pulling against it. The 1st 2 times I blamed it on myself for not playing my jazz box more often. The 3rd time I knew something was up having just restrung and gigged with the guitar a month earlier. Upon further inspection I found that D'addario has been cutting corners with the thickness of their ball ends. Maybe the material as well. Not too mention the tightness of the loop looks week as well. I will never buy anything from D'addario ever again. The good news is that I have searched out a better string and feel ashamed as a professional musician that I didn't do this 20 years ago. Bad news is that I have a frozen truss rod in one of my irreplaceable McKerrihan arch tops. Hopefully with a quality set of strings that don't bust after 4 weeks it will come back. Here is a photo comparison of a real string and a D'Addario string. It will be obvious which is which!
