Good Cook Classic Salad Tongs

When the pair I had finally snapped, I should have gone to my local supermarket and picked up another pair. But being the lazy person I am, I decided to find a pair on Amazon.These seemed to be the best value for what I wanted. Just a simple, plastic, scissor-like set of salad tongs.Well, I should have studied the picture more closely, because I would have noticed the fact that the hinge/axis point is closer to the tongs than it is to the handles. What this means is that you need to open your hand much wider than you'd like the tongs to open. It makes it very uncomfortable to use, unless you only want to grab a couple of mouthfuls at a time onto your plate. You can see in the product image that the space between the handles is already wider than the space between the tongs, and the tongs are barely open enough to grab a tomato chunk.My suggestion...just go to your local supermarket and pick up the plastic set they sell in the kitchen gadget aisle.These get 2 stars simply because they're better than nothing at all.

Sturdy feeling. The ones I received were shamrock green. Transparent green but definitely green. They still work, just be aware you might not get clear ones.UPDATE July 2015: Upgraded to five stars. These are still working wonderfully. It also looks like Amazon has updated the picture so that you know you are receiving green ones instead of clear ones. Many reviewers complained that these break or become separated in their hands. They are DESIGNED to come apart in the same way a nice pair of kitchen sheers separates so you can wash them better. These attach in the center for one handed use or detach for two handed tossing.

Ok, so they would probably be perfectly functional tongs. I didn't find out because I decided to return them about as soon as I opened the box. The picture shows a pair of tongs made of colorless transparent plastic. The pair I received were not colorless but bright yellow - not at all what I wanted. In addition, although the packaging was undamaged, the tongs themselves had small scratches all over, and a few spots were so scratched up that the transparent plastic looked opaque. They are going straight back to Amazon.

Perfect match for my beautifully decorated vegetable serving bowl. Can’t wait to display it with family and guest for dinner.

I prefer tongs that are "scissor-style" so I can toss the salad with tongs separated and quickly put the tongs back together for serving. These tongs are the perfect size and they work great! The price was also very attractive. If I ever need a replacement set of tongs again, these are the ones I'll want. I'm very pleased with their performance. They're better than the last set that I had.
