Works as expected, its very sensitive to cloud cover, also debris in the water clogs the water intake. I live in an area with hard water, I've cleaned it with vinegar to keep the minerals out. If you want a pump that you can drop in the water, walk away and do no maintenance, this is not for you. To keep this pump running it requires, direct sun, and filter cleaning every few days.

Only lasted a too-short time.
I bought this solar pump for use in a bird bath. It arrived on 12/29/2019. Worked great... till it died, about 6 weeks later (mid 02/2020). Note: I kept the bird bath full of water. Cleaned it and the pump, regularly. We live in Florida, so there's always plenty of bright sunlight. Still, it just quit working. The reset instructions state, "you can charge it under the sun(outside of water) for 2 hours to reset it". Although this seems to be counter-intuitive, I figured that since nothing else worked, I might as well try it. Guess what? That didn't work, either. Not happy at all with this product.

For solar powered the requirement of DIRECT sunlight is ridiculous
This was MUCH smaller than I was expecting. It does work in full sunlight with no problem but as soon as a shadow is cast, it will not operate. Right now, the month of August means that it cuts off at approximately 2:00 PM because the sun is on the other side of the house. It is still full daylight but not direct sunlight. If your fountain is anywhere close to an object that will cast a shadow (house, tree, porch, etc), once the shadow falls on the fountain, it will not work.

Great customer service
This item came in and it looked like it had been used and abused. There are multiple scratches on the surface, nicks in the side and discoloration. The bottom panel looks fine and I am hoping for better results which in actual use. I am allowing it to "charge" for a day and see if it works. I will add review results when I know more.UPDATE: I contacted the company and they graciously sent me a replacement. This replacement was clean, new and works great. You do need to have it in full sun to work effectively; however this seems reasonable since it is a "solar" fountain. The spray can reach about 6-12 inches high depending on the sun and water in the fountain. I would definitely order from this company again.

Looks like a great idea, but not so much for me
Where I live (coastal Southern California) we have high mineral content hard water. I am stating that because as a result, outdoor solar panels don’t last long, and cleaning them hasn’t changed their durability. The suction cups on the panel did not work well, as the solar water spout kept floating around, thus splashing water out of the deep copper pan I used as the fountain bowl.

A novelty item with little long term value. Bad for birds
The Good: - Its ok for a novelty item. - It floats - It comes with several tops for different spray patterns. I used it with a top to get a more a bubbling brook effect..The Bad: - The sun needs to be at a fairly direct angle for the unit to work. With sun at 30 degree angle the unit start to spurt about a 2" pulse of water per second. At about 45 degrees the pump is always on. As the sun becomes more direct the fountain becomes more continuous and with a larger fountain spray. With sun at most direct angle there is about a 12" continuous spray.- There are 3 tiny suction cups on the bottom, about 1/4 dia that are useless for holding the unit to the bottom.- As it floats, since the suction cups dont work, the fountain moves to the edge and pumps the water over the edge of the container and emptys it of water.- There is no battery storage so it will only work when in direct path of sunlight.- There is no spray height adjustment'- The birds seem to avoid it when its working with the spray heads. Im hoping with the bubbler they will be attracted to it.. - As it needs sun to work and if you using a bowl, the water also heats up and the water becomes too hot for the birds to use.

Hardy!
I have two of these in my pond and they work when there's sun and they even survived all winter in the ice of the pond and work fine when the ice melts and the sun shines again. I'm going to order a couple more, I like them so much. I use them without the spout attachment and every now and then I swish them around to clear them of gunk.

Very unfortunate impressed. Great concept just wish it worked!!
If I could give this 0 stars I would. It's a smart design and great idea but Read closely. It's a 1.4w pump. It barely move any water at all and it must be in direct actual sunlight to work at all. I cought this for the kiddie pool I just got. Wife was scared of standing water issues and my son loooves bird watching. I figured this would be perfect. There is no battery in it so dollar directly powers the pump hence the need for direct sunlight. it also doesn't spout the water out it just dribbles out pathetically...
