Shofars were used to signal danger in ancient Israel. When Nehemiah was rebuilding the wall of the city of Jerusalem, he constantly had a man with a shofar by his side. This was in case of an attack from the lurking enemy. Nehemiah could rally the spread out builders, or alert them to danger, with just a blast from the shofar. Half Polished means a part of the Shofar is polished while the other half is left natural which provides it a beautiful contrast and sheen. The shofar often symbolizes the voice of God in the Old Testament. When God spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, the on-looking Israelites heard loud blasts from a shofar.
