G7 Reno LED Recessed Can 75W Replacement BR30 Flood Light Bulb, Dimmable 3000K Soft White Light 15 Watt 1100 Lumen, E26 Base: desertcart.com: Industrial & Scientific

Review: Best recessed bulb I've ever found - Our kitchen uses recessed lighting - and we've always struggled to get good lighting. Anyone who has tried CFL lighting for recessed light bulbs is probably aware that they take a painfully long time to warm up. (In our case, it was easily a couple of minutes.) We also never liked the color quality, and the kitchen always seemed dim and depressing. Standard incandescent bulbs came on more quickly, but they run extremely hot and burn out quickly if you go with the higher-wattage models. Fortunately, I stumbled across this bulb - and it has completely changed the look of our kitchen! Here are the things we like about these: 1) They come on instantly! 2) We experimented with both the 2700K and 3000K versions of this light, and found we liked the 3000K version a lot better. I honestly think everybody is hung up on 2700K because that's what they're used to instead of it being better for lighting... 3) These look great in a 6" can. 4) The light distribution is both consistent and even. These are far better than other LEDs I tried that ended up looking more like a spotlight... 5) They are bright, and our kitchen looks better than it ever has as a result. 6) They are energy efficient, run cool, and are rated to last basically forever. I know they start to add up if you purchase several of them; but, if they last as long as promised, they'll definitely pay for themselves. Having said that, it's kind of hard to get excited about the potential lifetime of these bulbs until they prove themselves. We expected to get years out of CFL bulbs, but have found we ended up replacing them as much as the standard bulbs they replaced (and the disposal was a giant hassle). From everything I've read, that's pretty common with CFLs - but LEDs apparently have the potential to actually deliver on the promise of lasting significantly longer. I'll post here if they start burning out; but, I do plan to contact G7 for warranty replacement if they last less than 10 years. :) I know it's hard to get excited about a light bulb, but these completely changed the look of our kitchen. In fact, we like them so much that we ended up replacing all the A19 bulbs in our house with 3000K bulbs from G7. If you're looking for LED replacement bulbs, then I would recommend these over any of the other bulbs out there!
Review: Much better than CFLs - I purchased a G7 "Reno" and a G7 "Tahoe" to try out in my home and home office. The G7 "Reno" 3000K LED bulb provides a nice soft white light for general residential lighting. The 3000K color of the Reno is not as yellow as the typical 2700K LED bulb, but not as blue as the 4000K or 5000K bulbs. The 3000K color is a pleasant compromise for general lightning and does not produce a lot of glare. The light pattern is very smooth and fairly broad with not hot spots. The G7 "Tahoe" is a 4000K bulb that provides a nice "bright white" color that I prefer for office use. The Tahoe bulb appears slightly brighter than the Reno and is a good choice for color accuracy in a work environment or any area where you want more of a daylight appearance without the strong blue tones of a 5000K bulb. Both the G7 Reno and Tahoe bulbs run cool and are very bright considering they only draw 15 watts. The bulbs are heavier than an equivalent CFL, but the light quality is far superior to typical CFLs. So far I have been very happy with my purchase and I plan to buy more.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Multiple reviews of this product mention 4000K light temperature, while the product specs list 3000K - which is it?**
A: I do not have tools for testing temperature of light, however, I would say it is probably closer to 4000 K than to 3000 Correction, did not see your reference to product, as we did not purchase that product. It may very well be 3000K. Our product (100 w equiv) is closer to 4000K

**Q: Can I put this bulb in a fixture rated for 65W? It says it's equivalent to 75W, but only uses 15W. Is it safe to use in a 65W socket?**
A: I would say yes because I believe the "75W equivalent" is just an estimate and it is only a comparison for when you're shopping for the bulb you want. Go by the actually watts which is 15.

**Q: Do you need to use a 5 inch fixture for this bulb? What size works the best?**
A: The number following the letters in a recessed light bulb indicates size: it's the diameter of the light bulb in eights of an inch. So, a BR30 is 30/8 inches, or three and 3/4 inches. You can put it in a bigger one if you want, but It won't "fill" it as much. 5" is probably optimal. I have them in my kitchen and the 4000K is great.

**Q: Is this bulb compatible with the Leviton 6674-P0W SureSlide Universal Dimmer? If not what is the best dimmer for four of these bulbs?**
A: My bulb works with a dimmer. I don't what dimmer I have. It just doesn't dim as much as you would expect. About the same as CF it replaced.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect and cheap alternative for aquarium lighting
*by C***O on March 8, 2016*

Great color, light output and efficiency! I needed much better light for my aquarium as it is a heavily planted tank but I didn't want to spend a ton of money on aquarium lighting so instead I bought a clip on desk lamp from Walmart and this lightbulb (3000K). It produces the perfect and strong light for my aquarium and since the light it on 10 hours a day efficiency was very important to me. The first bulb I purchased was a Utilitech from Lowe's and not only was it more expensive, but it looked like it wasn't really full spectrum (just a yellow LED). I bought this one and returned that one to Lowe's. Couldn't be happier!
