After trying loads of options to deter a hungry heron (including those floating discs which looked horrible and got full of pond weed) I decided to try these with strong fishing line. So far, so good. The heron still comes most days but it takes him ages to find a position where he might be able to catch a fish and I'm tinkering with the positioning to make it even more protective. these poles are sturdy, reasonably attractive. It's not ideal to have loads of fishing line strung across the pond but from afar you hardly notice it and it's the only way I can keep my fish and frogs alive!

This product really works if installed correctly. I have had a Heron problem for over 10 years, tried nearly all methods to deter them but only netting kept them out. I had looked at a Heron fence but my pond has a stone surround and every Heron fence pole/stake was made for a soft pond edge to push into. I spotted these during one final search and as they are metal I figured I could drill a hole in the stone and pop them in. I installed 17 of these poles/stakes as close to the edge of the pond as possible (see photo of one end) and then used 0.6mm woven fishing line to finish the fence.To make the pond really Heron proof 1) you need make sure that you have fishing lines going across the pond from pole to pole this way the Heron can't fly in: 2) I added 2 extra lines between each post (see pic) as I watched the Heron approach the fence and crouch down to try and sneak under the bottom line. After adding these extra lines the Heron still comes from time to time has a look at the fence for a minute or two then flies off as it can't get in.Final note I tensioned the lines using a slip knot for each run.

Bought a pack and would buy more for my pond but it’s not on prime now and delivery is slow and expensive. Will wait until it’s back with free next day delivery. The quality seems very good.

Our pond looks so much nicer without a net, these do a perfect job.Had a slight issue, but they were super fast to solve it and I'm saying that this is customer ervice at its best.

Pesky heron was happily fishing within half an hour of us putting these round the pond. We used fishing line, but he obviously just flew over itWell made metal poles though, so if you’re using them for something else, a good buy…
