Customer reviews for this clamp are misleading because 2 different clamps are being reviewed. This review is for the umbrella clamp that “Fits small pole of 0-0.7 inches diameter, the max clampable thickness is 1.5 inches.” This clamp will not fit umbrellas with 1.25” or 1.5” poles. Unfortunately I made my purchase decision based on reviews for the other clamp. However I was able to make this clamp work for me because it is so sturdily constructed.

This was easy to install! We have an old pontoon with no canopy. Because of the railing we attached it to we had to use duct tape on the railing to get it to stay in place. Great price some shade on the lake.

I just received this deck clamp, and I'm glad I went with this one. While it's no-frills--nothing fancy about it!--it's really well made and sturdy. The metal is thick and the clamp is made of solid metal with no possibility of weak spots, as there are no welded or otherwise joined pieces. The clamp comes in 2 main parts with the pieces that fit around the umbrella pole (or torch, etc.) itself fitting into the main body of the clamp and secured with a very strong bolt. Those 2 pieces could be adjusted for width in the slots provided---they were just a smidge too wide at the narrowest closure for the very skinny pole of my small 4' umbrella (using it to shade a hummingbird feeder)--but the base of the pole fits snugly enough that there is very minimal play. I plan to wrap the pole with some type of tape to give it a bit more width, but so far the clamp is holding the umbrella really well. The width of the clamp itself fit my deck railing perfectly. I can't recall from the item description if it is rustproof, but it seems likely that it's at least rust resistant, and I expect this clamp to last through a good many warm-weather seasons to come.If the bright metal finish isn't an issue for you (vs. a powder black coating), I highly recommend this "industrial-strength" clamp. I'm very happy with it so far and expect it will last a very long time.

This clamp works well to hold a 10' umbrella on the deck railing although the umbrella did need to be tied down to prevent it from lifting out of the clamp when breezy. This may not be an issue for umbrella poles with diameters less than 1.5" as there is an internal mechanism to secure narrower poles. However, not a problem to add a tie down for extra security and well worth saving deck space using the railing clamp vs. other methods. Highly recommend.

The media could not be loaded.  I'm very happy with this umbrella clamp! I've got it clamped to a card table and am using a regular umbrella with it, allowing me to take my home office outside.

Scratched my fence all up and had it actually worked I wouldn’t have minded as much. Every single time a little wind came it made the whole thing scrape across my fence. My husband tightened it with tools and still was not working well.

Made very well. Large enough hole for the 7.5 foot umbrella I got for our patio. I believe it's 1.5 inch. But not fully sure on that. Clamps on our patio firm and strong. happy with this product. Will get another one for same umbrella on the other side of our patio.
