Easy to use
Traps are extremely easy to use. Managed to catch quite a few mice that I wasn't aware of. Caught a few young rats, but the adults are tripping the trap but manage to escape.

Effective and very safe to operate
This device has been excellent so far. In the past I used the simple and cheap wooden rat traps. The oneās that almost take your fingers off every time you try to set them. Whilst they were effective I didnāt like the thought that I might lose a digit in the process. Also I had to put on disposable gloves when removing the dead rat as I nearly always had to come into contact with them when removing them from the trap. Also the overly-sensitive traps often went off without a rat being anywhere near. This device is similar to the wooden ones in that it has an arm that gets pulled back into position and then activates when anything touches a small platform containing the food. However the really excellent thing about this design is that the whole process occurs inside a box and that the trap can be set with the box closed by pulling a plastic strip until you hear the device click into the set position. Your fingers are therefore nowhere near the actual trap and there is no chance whatsoever of getting your fingers damaged. The other great thing about this trap is that when you come to dispose of the captured rat you can lower the whole box into a bag and then pull the plastic strip which opens the trap and lets the late rat drop into the bag without your hands being anywhere near it.As for actually catching rats the story has been nearly all positive. We had a large rat coming into our garden to pick up the scraps of food that the birds had dropped from our bird feeder. A few days on and my wife spotted a smaller rat also coming in to feed. I therefore got this trap to nip things in the bud before an infestation occurred. I used peanut butter and oats as bait and in the first 24 hours I caught 2 small rats and in the next 24 I caught another small rat. That makes 3 rats in 2 days which is excellent going. My only doubt about the device is that we have not yet determined whether it can catch larger rats as the bigger rat hasnāt been seen for a few days now. It may simply be it has been scared off by the sight of 3 smaller rats being caught but I would have liked to have seen if the device can cope with a much bigger rat.Overall I thoroughly recommend this device for all the reasons above. Given itās effectiveness and safety it is well worth paying a bit more than the cheaper but less effective and more dangerous traps.

They work
Great traps. Bought after seeing a rat in the garden. The rat is now toast. These will be able to be used for years to come. Hope not to ever need them again but handy thing to have. I'll definitely recommend these to anyone that mentions they have a rat or mouse problem.Really easy to use and clean.

Good product but not easy to open
We are having a real problem with rats at the moment. Bringing pest control companies in don't always work as their work isn't guaranteed and we spent Ā£300 with one company and all they done was put boxes down and ask us if the rats were gone! We just put the boxes down yesterday and we will have to be patient as rats are super intelligent and are neophobic (they have a fear of new things) so they avoid new things in their area at all costs. But this is a cheaper way of doing it instead of paying a pest control company, if I had terriers, I would use them or dry ice (which is the best way of dealing with them) but very poisonous to us humans so I won't go there.Positives of these boxes: these are great for small areas, and they comes with a plastic trap (so you can wash it and the box), it also comes with a red plastic bit on the back of the trap which goes through a hole in the back of the box which means a) you don't have to get your fingers involved to push the trap back; a great safety feature and b) this plastic bit allows you to see also when the trap has been triggered. The good thing about boxes is that when it is triggered it minimises the chances of a rat jumping up to avoid the trap. I watched a video of a Amazon review who recorded at night rats going over 7 traps (he bolted them to wood so they wouldn't move) and the minute the traps triggered the rat leapt up in the air and got away. They are extremely agile. When you use traps and boxes use gloves not just for hygiene because rats can cause a lot of diseases but because they can small human scent on anything you touch. Rats prefer protein sources so that is why peanut butter is preferred for traps. Only put a little bit in though, if you put too much in, they will lick it off and the trap wonāt be triggered (that is other peopleās experience also), you need to be able to get them onto the trap and stay long enough for it to trigger and the best way to do that is to put a tiny bit in the trap which means they have to work for it.Negatives: The worst is that some of the boxes are extremely difficult to open. My son who goes to the gym and lifts weights was having difficulty opening them and whilst he pushed down on them, and I had to lift the top part up. My son is home from uni and goes back in September, so I won't manage to open some of the boxes to continue to use them. We noticed the plastic mechanisms to open them have different parts which is strange. if you have huge rats, they might be too small, but I doubt it as rats can squeeze through very small spaces.
