Insect Lore Two Cups of Live Caterpillars - 10 Live Painted Lady Caterpillars with Food - Includes Bonus Butterfly Life Cycle Figurines - Refill for Butterfly Garden Habitat

These are a great activity for children to learn about the life cycle of butterflies. We have raised these for 20 years each summer in my home daycare. The kids love watching each stage, today they are hatching, which is very exciting. Arrive quickly and in perfect condition. Typically 4 of the 5 caterpillars make it all the way to butterflies. Sometimes they all do, but on average over the years it has been 4. Be careful when releasing them as birds really like them and having kids see a bird snap one up right in front of them was a little traumatic that year. We always release near flowers so they have a food source right away.

These caterpillars turned into butterflies just as expected. One of them didn’t come out of the chysalis and another was deformed. My kids aren’t too little so it wasn’t awful to explain. I wish they would sell different variety of butterflies, I’d love to have different types emerge

I ordered cups to replace caterpillars from our kit that all died. I've been doing these butterfly gardens for 7 years ans never had an issue. These ones arrived like this and I have several dead at the bottom now and only a few chrysalis hanging out of two cups. I also ordered an entire garden for a friend's kid's birthday and theirs arrived similar with two dead caterpillars. Yes they waited a couple days to see if they'd move. They did not. In addition, at the same time I recommended the butterfly garden to another friend and now all of their caterpillars have died. In seven years I've never had any die until now, but with 3 of us having g dead caterpillars in multiple cups, it seems like something is going on...

I buy these every year and have not been disappointed.

Beautiful Mother’s Day gift! Watching them grow into butterflies was an amazing experience. My mom loved her gift and so did everyone else who seen them transform. Totally worth the money! I’ve purchased this already 3 years in a row!

I only got 7 Caterpillar when I was supposed to got 10 caterpillar but all 7 butterflies hatch with 1 broken wing

This is a wonderful learning experience and great Easter tradition for all my grandkids. All 10 caterpillars survived and flourished into beautiful butterflies, that we released on Easter day.

Usually this is a good product, but this time half of the caterpillars didn't make it. I think the new container that they go in after they have cocooned is not good. They don't seem to have enough room. Should go back to the old way where they hang by a clip on top of the net

All painted lady caterpillars arrived Alive although one jar only had 4 not 5 as mentioned in the description

I ordered 10 caterpillars, however, only 6 out of 10 made it into Chrysalis form and 3 have fell from the top of the lid attempting to latch. Now I have 3 laying on the ground of the habitat and 3 that have managed to properly latch to the lid. Because they took so long to arrive 4 died attempting to chrysalis because the box did not create the still, fragile transport that would have been required for them to latch to the top of the lid of the cup. I am hoping the 6 remaining chrysalises survive and can still hatch properly. My complaint is that they were already out of the caterpillar stage upon arrival. Timing is everything with getting to properly experience this and have it work out.

I thought caterpillars would have been great to see their stages of development. Unfortunately the perishable package was opened by CBSA and the containers with caterpillars were disturbed and they died. I will not reorder.

Only 2 butterflies survived.
