Trick roping seems easy to do and yet only a handful of people do it. One that knows how to do trick roping makes it look easy that when it comes to actually doing tricks with the rope one realizes that you don't know how to hence you need skillful training. Like riding a bike, you have to realize you can't ride a bike, you fear riding a bike before you start, you need training and someone to guide you even with dummy wheels. Unfortunately, a skillful trick roper is not necessarily willing to show his or her skills and even worse they are not necessarily a trainer. Therefore yes, The Secrets of Trick Roping helps you train and give the gift of polishing your skills without reluctant help of others which makes you the ultimate self made cowboy. Wait until they drop their jaws watching you after you turned out to be better than them.

After viewing a copy of this book on trick roping by the young man who performed all these tricks and more at my daughter's rehersal dinner 4 years ago, I knew I had to have one to give my new son-in-law! Antonio is a cowboy wannabe and he's athletic enough to try trick roping to go along with his new cowboy hat!Since that first book I was so impressed with the content and pictures that I ordered four to give as gifts. My two great nephews each got copies and were thrilled saying "cool" and "awesome" in their thank you. Both boys are into bull riding competitions and the oldest is a national champion!I'm planning on another purchase of books soon for my godsons' birthdays. I love to give gifts that get folks out of their chair and outdoors for some fun exercise. I'm very grateful and happy that Mr. Read shared his secrets with the rest of us!! Hopefully he will share some more "secrets" in future books!

This really explains how to trick rope,plus if you have any questions, you can email him with a quick response. The only down side is that there is a misprint on the back of the book saying "You will need to help you master the rare the art" it has an extra the. Otherwise great book.

I purchased this as a gift for my son's birthday this week. I looked the book over today before wrapping it, and I am excited to say that it will be a perfect gift! Mr. Read explains Trick Roping in a clear and concise manner - great for beginners!

I purchased this for my husband who is a very experienced team and ranch style roper, but is just learning to trick rope. He was disappointed in the book. As an instructor himself, he felt that the book did not give any worthwhile information. His comment was that there were about two helpful sentences in the entire book.

This book is not for the beginner. It does not tell how to unkink the rope as you spin. This is the most important thing to know so you can spin continuously. I found more information on the internet

Nice book on beginning rope tricks. I bought this along with a lasso made for rope tricks.

This book was given to my grandsons at same time I gave them a lariat. They said the book was quite helpful...

It is hard to learn roping from a book, but this is a short, perfectly reasonable purchase to make, without spending a fortune.
