How easy is the assembly?

There is no assembly. It’s four birch sticks.

Does anyone know how much 1 birch pole weighs? Planning to use them for a hand held Huppah (Jewish wedding canopy).

Hi, I don't know the exact weight. but I bought these to hang in my classroom (with birds). I cut them into third. They're not very heavy at all. Using them for the Huppah should work well.

Does it work well as a switch on 9-year olds? Asking for a friend.

No.. it is not a switch. It is a solid stick. If your “friend” would like child abuse charges.. please recommend this product

Can these be used outdoors in a planter

Yes the only thing is if they are in dirt the will rot faster than normal
