Q: are they good to use before re-seeding lawn lawn, bare spots ?

That's what I used them for. It really depends how much top soil you have in that bare spot. If there's not enough, you might want to add some fill to it before aerating. If there's enough soil depth, then aerating with these will be fine for reseeding in existing lawn or in bare spots. Be sure that you've dethatched any of the bare spots so that you're seeding in soil and not on dead grass (thatch)

Q: Do you have to walk slow with these on? Could you use while mowing?

I used them while push mowing few times, worked ok for most part. More movement, more have to tighten straps. Only trouble I had was squirrels drugged in walnuts and was worked into the ground underneath the surface. Shoe spike pulled nut out of ground, I didn't realize that and made walking difficult. So make sure yard is clear.

Q: The photo says "no assembly required" but you have to add straps and screw on up to 26 spikes. and the ad says "5 minutes"? seriously bs advertising.

If the caption for this says "No assembly required" then it's an outright lie. It took me 20 minutes, since after screwing in the spikes, adjustment of the holding straps took a while also. Ah, the morality of "marketing"!!

Q: Can you use to loosen soil to plant seeds?

Not effective. Best to rent a rototiller to turn up soul before planting.
