OWCHard Drive Sled/Bracket for Mac Pro 2009-2012

Wish these were not so expensive of that the drive manufactures had not changed the holes on the disk drives. But they do the job. Had a bit of a buzz at first but I re tightened the screws and all is well.

Works perfectly to securely mount newer high capacity (8GB+) hard drives in the classic Mac Pro tower. Adds a 3rd position for mounting bolts to attach to hard drive (bolts must be repositioned into the appropriate spot on the carrier.)If you’re cheap, you could try using the Mac Pro’s stock carrier on the 2 bolts that do still fit the drive, and rig up some other way to secure the other half of the drive, like strong tape. That might be okay in a pinch, but not a reliable long term solution. Get these OWC sleds instead.

There's no competition for this product— so these guys milk us for this very necessary part. It need not be that way, and prior to this purchase I've always had a positive view of OWC. This, though, tells me they make their money by ridiculous markup of specialty items. 2 additional screw holes does not cost an additional $5 over the cost of the regular sleds. But what they hey, everyone will still get this and smile because it's for our Macs' extensibility. Just bugs me enough that if I ever have a choice for RAM or other peripheral componentry, I will make a point to buy elsewhere.

This is the perfect solution for installing a newer hard drive (particularly the 8TB internal drives) into a Mac Pro. Some genius decided to change the screw locations on the bottoms of the drives, making this adapter completely necessary for installing the newer internal drives into the unit.A tad pricey at $20 for just a metal bracket, but it gets the job done, and I've had nothing but good experiences with OWC in the past.

These are great brackets for the older Mac Pro. Some of the newer server hard drive models have mounting screws in different places and these work as well as the original Apple sleds, but have multiple mounting locations for a whole host of different drives.

Bought two of these to install two 10 TB drives in my TrueNAS that runs on a Mac Pro 4,1. I mounted the two HDDs to the sleds and slid them right into my Mac Pro. They work every bit as well as the Apple sleds and they allow for mounting larger drives with the newer mounting hole pattern. Love it!The sleds arrive well-packed in a cardboard box and come with an instruction sheet that I didn't use. As shown in the manufacturer's pictures, each sled has six anti-vibration grommets and comes with four screws. This allows you to mount HDDs with the old mounting pattern as well as the newer mounting pattern by moving two of the screws. I actually prefer the screws on these sleds over the Apple ones as the screws on these sleds can be turned with a regular Philips #0 (or #1) whereas the Apple ones require a precision screwdriver. The surface finish of these sleds is slightly rougher than the finish on the Apple brackets and they also don't have the little (1), (2), ... marks, but, honestly, who cares? :)The price is very reasonable given that we're talking about a quality product that's intended for use in a niche market. If I ever need to add another large drive to my Mac Pro I'll be getting more of these.

Needed a Pair sleds for MAC PRO 5,1 as mine only had 2 sleds when i bought it used.Wanted a sled with new drives bolt pattern. Installed With 6TB IronWolf Pro Drives.Shipping took long time and when received was in good shape.Expensive for what it is, but it is what it is. Only option for Cheese Grater MAC PRO.Product does not fit well in regards to length. The length Had to use pair of sleds in drive bay 2 & 3 or Side Panel wont shut and latch.

The only solution if one need to put larger spinners in a classic Mac Pro

Was soll man dazu sagen: das Teil passt in den mac Pro Bj.2012 und man kann die großen ( ab 6 oder 8 TB )Festplatten einbauen da es die angepassten Bohrungen gibt. OK es gibt jetzt wieder Leute die sagen werden :die zwei Löcher kann ich selber bohren, wer das will soll es tun. Ich habe es nicht gemacht weil es doch präzise sein muss damit sich nichts verzieht und deswegen finde ich den Preis auch ok. Wer Dreher, Schlosser , Feinmechaniker oder dergleichen ist und über benötigtes Equipment verfügt kann es ja gerne machen.

Non è compatibile con il disco che volevo utilizzare ,i fori non corrispondono e la staffa risulta più lungadella slitta del mac e in definitiva se si monta il coperchio non si chiude perché la staffa sporge.
