Fender Performance Series Instrument Cables (Straight-Straight Angle) for electric guitar, bass guitar, electric mandolin, pro audio

A couple years ago, I picked up one of these cables to go with a little Fender Champion guitar/bass amp that I had picked up so I could sharpen my skills at home. I hate the feeling of having a straight cable jut out of my bass (a Fender J), so I was happy to find this right-angle one that lets the cable sit flush with the front of the bass. I have had very good experience across a range of Fender's products since my parents bought me a Fender dreadnought guitar over 20yrs ago, so I had high hopes for this cable.Safe to say, it did not disappoint, and it is still going strong today. A few highlights:- The cable is very tangle-resistant and coils easily, and you can tell the outer shielding is made to last.- Both connectors are holding up great and do not show any signs of fraying. Granted, I am pretty gentle on my cables, but still - I've experienced poor quality-cables before, and this is not one of them.- Sound quality is also excellent, with no noticeable hiss or crackling that occasionally shows up in lower-quality cables.That said, if your guitar/bass has a front-facing jack, or you just prefer to have a cable that plugs into your instrument at a right angle, I can highly recommend this cable. While you may sometimes find yourself paying more for the name than the quality of a music instrument/accessory, that is not the case with this cable. It's a winner!

Hand many cables over the years that did not hold up, have had some that are still going strong. I had another Fender with the fabric weave type sheath that barely lasted. This one looked good on screen and the price and rating were good so gave it a try. So far so good, seems well made and I like the thicker rubbery outer jacket. The fact that the jacks are fully sheathed means the jack covers done come loose. I would not be able to tell if the sound is better or worse than more expensive cables. I lean towards the notion that higher priced cables that folks think sound better are more marketing than actual performance. These newer design Fender cables appear to be that kind of product that performs well and offered at a fair price. Pretty good deal, if not a monster deal....

Updated review on an 04-06-14 order:I replaced the non-Fender cord mentioned below in the previous post when Amazon reposted a new product this time as a genuine Fender cord. The new product is advertised under the name "Fender Performance Guitar Cable 10' Black".I can now vouch for it that this one is 100% a Fender product and works perfectly fine. The difference in sound quality between the two cords even when GO-DPS cord was working is like night and day. 5-stars all the way for the quality of the fender cord. However I can only give it four stars because of my experience with Amazon advertising a non-Fender product with a Fender product photo. I finally have the right product, but I had to go through using a poorly designed iteration which manifested a short right after Amazon's grace period for returns.I'm sure Amazon did not misrepresent the product intentionally. But what will happen if the Fender cords sell out, even temporarily? Will Amazon use this photo on another cheap cord as they did below? I'm sure this happens on a lot on product postings, but buyer beware... Just sayin'.From an 03-16-13 order an item was sold by GO-DPS (not by Fender) under the name "Chromacast 10-foot Pro Series Guitar Cable (Straight, Straight) with Pick Sampler" for which I gave the following poor rating on what turned out to be an incorrect photo posted on Amazon's site for this non-Fender product:I am giving this a 1 out of 5 stars because the item I received from GO-DPS was an all black rubber cable and not the Fender cable pictured. If I could rate it a 0 out of 5 I would. The cable has a short in it with only minimal usage as I am just learning the guitar. To make matters worse, GO-DPS will not take a return on it.I bought it to save a few bucks and it was advertised with a pick sampler, which turns out to be cheap versions of the three thicknesses that I still haven't used after a few months of having this. Don't buy this item unless you are sure what you are getting. I certainly no longer trust GO-DPS for anything.

It is an amp cord the works as intended.

This cable is a good middle ground between price and quality. There are higher quality cables, and there are cheaper cables, but I believe if you're just using it for playing guitar (or another electric instrument) around the house, you really can't go wrong with this Fender cable. The signal is clean and sounds clear. I didn't get any static or fuzz. The cable is soft and not as rigid as my last one, which I like. I don't know that I'd use this for playing gigs, but for home use, it's perfect. Can't speak to durability yet, but unless I update this saying otherwise, just assume it's working as expected. I'm happy with my purchase.

I use these for my guitar pedals on my pedal board. They fit between pedals perfectly.

You might think there's no point in buying an expensive cable as it won't really improve the sound quality. This is true, but these Fender cables have a lifetime warranty, are built extremely solid and are nice and malleable and they never tangle. They are very much worth paying the extra 15-20 bucks when you consider how long they'll last you.
