Awesome First Release
Elton John's first half-dozen records were phenomenal and still sound as good as they did all those years ago. Bernie Taupin's influence was very positive. This record, Elton John's first, is extraordinarily solid for a first venture. 'Take Me To The Pilot' has been a personal favorite since I firs heard it. Of course 'Your Song' and 'Grey Seal' were hits but the rest of the material here is solid and still sounds fresh. There's a lot of fire here and a lot of meat in the songs that give you things to think about. I like music that's got that kind of depth. It's too bad Elton John out grew that freshness and depth...

I Think It Sounds Good
Not sure if it's actually any better, but it sounds good.

Elton in his Prime
no question about it. This is why Elton John is know as a top rate writer/performer. Ever song is good. when I first got the LP I was amazed at the sound and the production value. the remaster version more that does justice to the original vision. even a causal EJ fan should get this.

Disappointed
I purchased this album after watching the Elton John flick and realized how many of his songs i loved. I was disappointed in the album as it didn’t have very many songs on it that I knew and didn’t really like most of them. I guess I should have purchased a greater hits album instead .
