There is no introduction needed for the acclaimed writer C. Radhakrishnan in Indian literature and I am very glad his books are now available globally. The book "Ellam Maaykkunna Kadal" is the first of a series of nine books which tells the story of Appu, a child, whose growing up in a village on the banks of Nila river and everyone around him. The society and people of the time go through many touching events which shape their lives and destiny. The book is a poignant portrayal of such events that touched every aspects of people's lives for many generations. So far I have read only this book in the series and I am eagerly waiting to read the remaining ones. Those who like to read this book, my suggestion is please give it a try. You will be amazed by the beauty and warmth of a masterpiece literature that differentiate Radhakrishnan's writing from others.

This is the first book in appu navakam. It depicts the story of a village 'chamaravattam', changes from marumakkathayam to makkathayam during Appu's childhood(1940s). Read it to know about the history of a malabar village.
