In this case you get more than you pay for
The short of it: this FM transmitter beats out my old Kensington and Monster transmitters that cost $70+ each. It is setup simply and it works great. In my opinion, I'd take this transmitter over any $50-100 transmitter any day.A little more in depth:Unboxing: When I received this transmitter in the mail, it had all the typical signs of a cheap knockoff: the instructions were written on the back using poor grammar and spelling. The box markets the transmitter as an "iPhone 3G" transmitter. My first thought was: well, I guess I wasted my $5.55. I opened the box to find the transmitter, a car charger, and usb cable to plug the transmitter directly into the car charger (thereby charging your iDevice while using it).Using the transmitter: This transmitter is one of the easiest transmitters to use. You simply plug the transmitter into your iPhone/iPod and the screen immediately lights up with a blue light and the FM frequency it is set to. The transmitter uses the battery life from your iDevice, or you can charge your iDevice with the included car charger. You have a + and - button to adjust the frequency on the transmitter itself (rather than an interface on the iDevice). The blue light shuts off within a few seconds so it doesn't get annoying when using in the dark. The sound quality is great. I found no static when using this on a station that wasn't even completely open (I live in a downtown metro area, so this is saying a lot).Pros: - the blue light comes on when you're adjusting the station, so you can see it easily without fumbling for the lights, but it shuts off after a few seconds so it's not distracting when driving. - the buttons are so simple that you can easily operate the transmitter whether you're tech-savvy or not, and operating in the dark is also incredibly easy. - the sound quality is the best I've seen from any fm transmitter I've used (Belkin, Monster, Kensington, Griffin, etc.) - the price! at $5.55 with shipping, I've never spent so little on a transmitter - compatibility: I used this transmitter with my iPhone 4 and my wife's iPod Touch 4GCons: - the packaging makes this transmitter look crappy, and the device and cables look cheap. That being said- with how great this operates and how cheap it is, this is hardly a complaint.Overall impression: I was incredibly skeptical about the good reviews this transmitter was getting. I purchased it thinking that it was worth the $5.55 risk. I was blown away when it worked great and I'm now a believer. The bottom line is that this transmitter works better than any fm transmitter I've ever used, and it's by far the cheapest I've come across. I'll take this over my old Kensington ($79) or Monster ($99) transmitters any day. I even did some looking at the current models of Monster transmitters (the ones selling for around $30 on Amazon) and they had horrible reviews. The interface is simple and intuitive, and while the quality feels cheap, the transmitter does its job very well. I plan to buy a few more of these for friends and family.

So so audio, definitely not for audio books
I bought this because I am tired of fighting with the wire attached to my Aux in on my head unit when it is attached to my iPhone 4. I really wanted to get a Griffin Technology BlueTrip AUX for iPhone and Smartphones but it is a bit pricey. So I opted to try this.To be honest, this unit is a disgrace to my Bose system. The sound quality was not that great, with a lot of static coming through. This is somewhat masked when you are playing music, but if you are attempting to play an audio book or maybe something orchestral you are going to be annoyed. And the bass is majorly lacking when using this unit. The connection did not seem to be consistent. The audio would come through at what seemed to be clear but very frequently static would take over. Especially if you move the phone around.I tried this with many different stations with the same results. This unit will NOT transmit phone call audio to your speakers, which isn't a problem for me, but I wanted to test it so I could let you know if that's what you were planning to accomplish with this unit.THIS IS A BIGGIE AND WHY I GAVE THIS UNIT A LOW RATING:If you do not transmit any audio through this unit for about 15 seconds, it will disengage the connection between itself and the station you are tuned into and screeching loud static will play through without warning until you happen to play something to re-engage the connection. If you don't understand what I mean, let me put it this way... You plug the unit into your iPhone, tune into the station you have set on the transmitter, and the connection is made between the unit and station. Now that the connection is made you hear silence (pending you have a good connection). Now you need to find a song to play. Well you better hurry up and play it within 15 seconds because if you don't the transmitter will go into standby and static will come blaring through your speakers. Quite alarming!Volume control on the iPhone is disabled when the transmitter is connected. Some may think that you don't need volume controls on the iPhone because you can just use the head unit's volume. The problem is, the volume being transmitted seems to have been set low from this device. Even with my head unit volume turned all the way up, it is does not come close to the loudness of a CD, the Radio, or the Aux connection in my car.I really wanted to like this because of all the good reviews and the concept was pretty neat. Plus I HATE wires everywhere! But this thing is useless.I am not an audiophile nor am I picky, but you really cant enjoy music or audio books with this device.I may have to suck it up and go for the Griffin. Either that or I'll just deal with the wired connection, but I will not deal with this.ALSO! Since the price was so good I happened to buy 2 of these transmitters because a buddy of mines CD Player broke in his car with no Aux input. That being said, I received 2 completely different units odd enough. And the one wasn't meant for and did not work with an iPhone 4. The second one was packaged much nicer and it said right on the packaging that it did work with the iPhone 4. The button placement was also different on the 2 units. That being said, if you do decide to purchase this device, this is one of those Amazon orders where 'you never know what your gonna get'. So good luck!Hope this helps!
