There is no bad taste at all. Yes, you will make a mess in the sink but it easily rinses down the drain. I use Arm & Hammer whitening toothpaste, but since my dentist was making some comments, I thought maybe I should look into. My other issue is that I have sensitive teeth and did not want anything harsh to give me trouble. I decided on Carbonwhite Natural. The first time I used it, I kinda got charcoal all over the place and after using a few times, seem to have it under control, and (to me) it does not taste like anything nor unpleasant. I purchased a child's soft toothbrush and a little charcoal goes a long way (you don't have to use a lot). I do see a difference after a few uses and will continue with it.
