Amazing! Must have for a curious mind
I don't normally write reviews but this set is fabulous for little ones interested in electrics and how things work. SO much fun and gives them the independence to make things.

Comparing This to Our Expensive, Child Friendly Circuits Kit:
For the price, this is a fantastic little set. And I mean 'little'. The circuits board is small, the size of my palm, everything is shortened without compromising on difficulty, it's not limited in any way in terms of the vast variety of projects to do or the quality or variety of the included pieces. In fact a few years ago we purchased the well known, American made Snap Circuits set. . It definitely ticked all the boxes and our son has had a few very productive years playing and experimenting with it. If you're new to circuits sets, it truly is an invaluable hands-on resource for young, inquisitive minds. But we didn't know any better back then and went with the reviews at the time, had we known that we could buy a set like this at a fraction of the price which will deliver at almost the same level of engagement, we would have tried this out first.Yes, the Snap Circuits version has a large circuit board, a very detailed manual with life-sized diagrams and detailed explanations, plus great customer care - we had to get in touch about a faulty part, they shipped a replacement to us in the UK all the way from the States). Though in our opinion, its suited for a slightly older age group of about 8 plus. This on the other hand, has been played with for a few hours already in the short time we've had it. Our six year old has been able to do a portion of the experiments herself using just the diagrams to guide her which are included for each experiment in the miniaturised booklet. She needed some help with the more complicated, multi-layer circuits and also needed guidance in understanding the accompanying text. The text is well written by a speaker of English as a first language, but the slightly scientific descriptions was something our little one hadn't come across before. One note: the light sensitivity experiments requires you to shine a torch into the included part for the circuit to work effectively. This isn't mentioned in the booklet. The suggestion is that a simple touch would suffice. Not so, the sensor is only sensitive to bright and direct light. ie. a torch.Would I recommend this set?Without a doubt! An excellent, well put together set with all working parts and built to a very good standard for something that's shy of £15.5 stars

Accessible, fun, easy to play with, well-designed simple 'my first electronics set'
This electronic kit has been an instant hit with my seven-year-old. I started out thinking it would be an educational tool, for some parent-and-child home learning time. While it did start out as that, it’s now been adopted as a toy, and taken up to the bedroom, where my son is having a lot of fun building his own circuits, using it as a night light and running down the AA batteries. The hardware is good. Each of the individual components is fairly simple- an LED bulb, a tiny little motor, an electronic sound generator that plays “happy birthday” as though it was a leftover from a birthday card and so on, nothing that would cost you more than a few pennies individually. However, the key thing is that each one has been mounted on a thick plastic base, with metal connectors, and these can be clicked together. While it’s not Lego-compatible, I would compare it with Lego for durability and the modular design. I’d trust my kids to pull these circuits apart and click them together in different arrangements without supervision, confident that they won’t be able to break them. And that’s what makes the set really accessible and playable. The accompanying manual is mostly excellent. There are a lot of different circuit diagrams in there, large and full colour. Each one has some notes underneath explaining what it’s meant to do, as well as, in most cases, a variant or two where you can swap one or two components in or out to change the logic of it. It’s really comprehensive, and nicely thought out too, beginning with the absolute basics and gradually working up to more complex arrangements. It does help if there’s an adult around to explain a bit about what’s going on though, not so much because of the diagrams but because the components themselves aren’t explained especially well at the beginning. The reason why the LED bulb will only light up when electricity is passing in the right direction, for example, is never really explained- either a grown-up has to do that, or the kid has to work it out for themselves as a bit of a puzzle. There are a couple of minor details which could be a little bit better- for example the base plate would ideally have been slightly bigger, and some of the components pictured in the manual are visibly different in colour and markings to the actual components included in the box. However for under fifteen quid at time of right, for a reasonable box full of components, solidly built and with a comprehensive book to follow, I’m really impressed from a value-for-money point of view.

fantastic design that really appeals to our house's little hands and growing minds - very impressed
I wish I'd had one of these in my much younger years too! It is just such a fantastic introduction to electronics, it doesn't look as daunting as the older style electronics kids I'm familiar with (like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Elenco-Electronic-Playground-Learning-Center/dp/B0035XSZDI - still a great next step). This kit has pieces which are vibrantly colour coded, with soft rounded corner, and big chunky boards that make them easy for our little ones fingers to grip. The set it well designed, in that it's hard to connect thing in wrong or do anything dangerous. I can't believe how approachable this kit is and I would very highly recommend it as a first introduction - there's something special about designing a layout and seeing the results of whether it works or not instantly. Our children are having fun with it, there's only a limited number of viable circuits but it's been plenty for weeks and weeks of keep returning to play so far and it's a brill introduction.
