Pricey but to me worth every cent. If you want quality for your new quality Macbook Pro, have money, then this is for you!
I have a black protective case which I had to slightly modify on the left side by using a file. It needs to fit flush against the side of the laptop. So depending on what kind of protective case you have, you might need to make sure that it allows for the ENTIRE length of the device to fit flush against the Macbook. That being said, its space grey, matches the laptop which is amazing. It uses 2 USB ports, but has 2 USB-C ports, an HDMI out cable that works great on my 4k TV. It has 2 USB 3.1 ports, a memory card reader and a micro card reader as well so you don't need an adaptor for the mini ones that are the typical ones used today that have a 256GB or higher space. It was $99 when I purchased it, which was in my opinion pricey because of the other models available. That being said you get what you pay for. This is a GREAT product, looks sleek and was made for the MacBook Pro. I have the 2016 13" MacBook Pro with the touch bar, basically the best you could buy in the early summer of 2017. Soon after a new upgrade was released but the differences were only slight. I was so in love with my new MacBook and at how easily it was to port around and how quiet it was that I wanted to only put the best of the best on it. This is the best adaptor for the laptop. With USB-C on the macbooks you only get 4 ports, 2 on each side, so this totally takes up an entire side. Since the power cord is USB-C I was curious if you could charge only on one side (the right side but nope, left or right, you can simply plug in the device and then plug in the power cable to one of the two USB-C ports on the device. I have plugged in 2 USB 3.1 hubs and connected about 8 devices all through this hub and all worked perfectly. The HDMI out supporting 4k was pretty surprising. Now granted I have a mid level 4k TV, used a new HDMI cable but just for some reason expected a 1080p resolution but was surprised that it was 4k resolution, making the text on icons super easy to read. I could use my 65" TV as an extended monitor no problem. Though, I really don't but its pretty good if you want to play video. I use plex and I also use Apple TV (currently the 4 that doesn't support 4k), so its nice to plug in directly and get higher resolution as the apple TV is limited to 1080p and most programs can't transcode video from one format into 1080p in real time so they are usually 720p so the sake of your CPU. I use Stream2Me and Air Play HD on my apple TV along with Plex on my apple TV and the comparison between airplay is completely noticeable with the HDMI being much clearer. Even using 3rd party applications like Air Parrot 2, having a great wireless ac network, that covers my whole house, sometimes it's just easier to plugin an HDMI cable. I have used the HDMI out at several conferences and meetings and the fact that the HDMI input is located on the top makes it much easier. So nothing but good things to say about this. I would mention the issue with the cases and it needing to be flush. I will attach pictures showing what I mean.

Removing flash drives/cards/cords etc.
Though this is a great product (it eliminates the need to buy multiple adapters from Apple), I must note that this adapter takes up both USB-C ports on whichever side of the computer (a new, 2018 15" MacBook Pro) it is connected to. I must also note that, once you plug something into this adapter, when you remove that something, you need to hold the adapter to the computer before as you pull the other something (a flash drive, the computer's power cable, etc.) out of the adapter. If you don't hold the adapter to the computer, it will pull the adapter out of the computer's USB-C ports.

Did I receive a knockoff? UPDATE - Satechi contacted me and sent replacement
I don't know what Satechi sent me, but appears to be a knock off of their product. - Update below after Satechi contacted me 1) It has no branding on the box that came with it or on the actual hub that it is Satechi. 2) The ports aren't aligned in the the same way as the description pictures 3) The hub doesn't sit flush with my macbook (15 inch here). It sits a bit higher so it isn't flush, protrudes from the back of the macbook and doesn't go all the way in, so there is a slight gap (see pictures attached) 4) Even if I wanted to ignore all the flaws listed above, the actual thing doesn't even work. UPDATE - Satechi was kind enough to respond to me It appears I did get a knockoff that didn't work at all. They sent me a genuine Satechi hub which works as advertised and looks as pictured. This one sits flush with my macbook and doesn't have the gaps as in my previous pictures. Overall I like the hub, my one complaint is that the USB ports are a but tight, when pulling out a usb accessory it often pulls out the entire hub. However, this is minor. Thanks Satechi for getting me a genuine product!

Top Quality product!!
I bought this adapter back in the spring of 2017 for my brand new macbook pro and it works beautifully to this day! This product last and it's so perfect for travel. It does everything I need it to in such a compact form. The metal feels really nice and sturdy and Ive never had a problem with it slipping out of the port and I use this thing all the time. I did have to modify my Kuzy computer case a little to make it fit but I knew I would be doing that when I bought the case so that wasn't a problem at all for me. Might be a deal breaker for some people but I still highly recommend the adaptor! Also the device gets a little warm during use but it hasn't bothered me. The price also might be a little speddy for someone on a budget, but this adaptor was extremely worth the money!

and be able to easily unplug all in one operation to move my Mac ...
Only the USB 3 connections worked with this hub, but I did not try the HDMI. The sole purpose of getting this hub was connecting an external 60 Hertz 20" HP monitor by Thunderbolt 3 to VGA Adapter Male to Female Converter, and to charge my MBP simultaneously. None of these functions worked. I tried switching connections between the two, but the monitor went black within seconds after connecting to either. I also tried connecting the hub on both sides of my brand new MBP 15", as well as changing the monitor settings. To my surprise the MBP did not charge either. When plugged directly into the two usb C and Thunderbolt 3 connections on my MBP, both functions work as they should. I needed a hub for the connections mentioned above as well as speakers and camera/mic connected to usb 3 at the same time, and be able to easily unplug all in one operation to move my Mac away from the monitor. It was a huge disappointment and a surprise for a hub at this price. I had to return it hoping to find one that works.

matches pretty much identically to my 2017 MacBook Pro
Had this adapter for about a week now and used it probably 15 times. Color is great(Space Grey), matches pretty much identically to my 2017 MacBook Pro. I've used each port and all have worked flawlessly. Fits very snug to the computer with almost zero gap and feels solid while connected. Pass through charging is only accepted on the upper USB-C port as that is the only one with the lightning capability. As long as it lasts the life of the new laptop it will be an extremely useful and well worth it purchase. Great stuff from Satechi. EDIT: Going on three months with the adapter and using more and more now that's schools back. Been continuously using each port and neve had trouble with any besides the fact that once in a while the micro SD will take a little finesse to get in. Product has gotten warm but never hot and I have never had nay of the ports not work or lost internet connection. Still would highly recdomend to anyone, I am still searching for a case that will fit with this in however.

Helped my streamlined setup
I was given a new 13" MBP w/ Touch Bar and didn't want to be caught in dongles and adapters. My old setup with a 2016 15" MBP had a lot of cables on one side of the laptop due to multi monitor and usb hubs being used. This helps replicate my multi-monitor setup but streamlines it by just plugging this hub into the side of the laptop. HDMI works great. 2nd monitor has to go through the TB3 port along with power. For this I use the Choetech USB-C HDMI with power delivery cable to consolidate to the TB3 port. Now I have just two cables minimum to power my computer and output to 2 monitors in extended view. I decided to stop using my keyboard and mouse from logitech with the USB unifying receiver and moved to a Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse so that freed up USB-A port on the hub but since those receivers are so small it really wouldn't have made a big difference. I used the extra USB-C port on the hub to hook up a Zorloo ZuperDAC-S to I can hookup my headphones. All in all, streamlined solution to get my desk setup going and its all starts with this hub going out on one side of the computer only. The other side of the computer has its ports open for use for anything else I may need but likely will not use just for the sake of keeping my setup as simple as possible.

Best USB-C Hub, Minor Problems
This is the second USB C/Thunderbolt 3 hub I have bought for my 2016 15' MBP. This is probably the best solution on the market for the Touch Bar MBP for most people, but it still has some issues. Pros: - Space Grey matches well - Full power pass through charging with 2016+ 15" MBP - Card readers work well - USB A ports work well Cons: - Severe interference with wireless USB mouse adapter - Fit to computer is a little off, it angles down on one end - Card reader slots are tight, pulls whole dock from computer when removing cards unless holding it I really like this dock, but there is one con that I simply can't deal with right now. I have a Logitech M570 wireless track ball that does not work with this hub. When the wireless adapter is plugged directly in to the Satechi hub there is so much interference that the track ball barely works. If I could find a good bluetooth track ball then I would keep this, but the severe interference with the USB wireless adapter is a no-go for me. I will be sending it back.

Perfektes Add-On zum MacBook Pro

A well-engineered and quality accessory that blends in seamlessly on my MacBook Pro. It's quite expensive but you get what you pay for. It seems to do the job as advertised hence my 5-star rating.
