These are not made out of plastic and work well.

I purchased this brass valve as a replacement for an aluminum valve. The aluminum valve's threads were hard to screw onto the hose and the shutoff lever was hard to turn. This brass valve is easy to turn, has a full port opening aligned in the center of the valve. Easy to screw onto the hose or faucet as the threads are machined much better than the replacement. One great feature is you can feel a slight shutoff click when fully closed.

Or time saver > not having to return to the faucet when moving the hose around..True, they cost about twice what I feel they should, but they are made durably of metal. The second pic you can see that I put two (Lord knows why 🙄). The darker one is several years old and it is working just as it should, so they last. I don't think I've had any trouble with their quality, and I've purchased these several times. {The first pic (with the dog-model), it is attached to my mist system.}.I have a tiny nursery and the hoses get quite a work out daily. Without these shut-off valves, you just get tired of taking the time to go all the way back to cut off the water at the source (for the hundredth time that day) - and you end up very wet. These valves have spoilt me. I put them on every hose I have, sometimes more than I need. But with these, for me, too much is better than not enough..If they'd just lower the price I'd be putting them on both ends of the hoses!!.Just FYI - Installation is a breeze, just remember, they include tape and a rubber washer. Use them. Unless you enjoy leaks.

These are solidly built, easy to use, smooth valve action units. Great value for the price and I'm expecting years of use. Extra washers was a nice bonus too.
