Works to charge but with a few small issues.
Using with a Pixel 2 XL. Works as promised, the device sits down on the UBC C charge connector and charges. Perfect on the night stand.Downsides are that the plug goes in very snugly. Requires a good push to get it on there, then you have to really tug it apart. Gravity should be all that is needed to hold it on there. Add to that that the base is very light. It has no heft to it so it's easily knocked over.Final gripe is that it has a USB 2 cable attached. My preference would be a female USB C input so I can connect my fast charger to it.

Works great, but make sure you have the phone seated properly
Works fine. Build quality is good. I'd recommend it to anyone. One thing I learned: I'm using this with an LG G5. It's in an Otterbox Commuter case. When I set the phone, with its case on, in this cradle, I get a "Slow Charging" screen. If I take it out of the case, and put it in the cradle - no screen.Hmm...A little research and I found that the "Slow Charging" screen comes up if the phone detects a weak USB connection. In this case, it's most likely the fact that the USB plug isn't fully seated in the phone.

Room for improvement
So on the one hand, yes, it charges the phone. But due to how tall the plug is, the phone is suspended by the plug and doesn't rest on the cradle. This seems rather concerning. There's a lot of wiggle room and I feel like something could get damaged this way.As others have mentioned, the cradle is very lightweight. I'd recommend using some 3M strips to "glue" it down to your desk.

Don't waste your money.
A week into using this product (purchased Oct 21st, recieved a few days later) and I was getting a "slow to charge" message on my phone, today (December 6th) I woke up to a dead phone. My car charger and wall charger both work, so its not a problem with my phone (which is new), however this docking station no longer works. So in my opinion, its cheaply made and a waste of money.

Not worth it.
This is not a good charging stand. Firstly it does not put through enough power to charge my phone. When I plug in the phone it will die on the stand. It says charging slowly on the screen when first docked. It also is not a tight fit and the phone does not like to sit properly. You have to adjust it to make sure it is charging. I have since switched back to my original charger and a kickstand case.

(I think it would be fine with any slim case
I bought this for my phone with added case. It fits perfectly and it charges with no problem with the case on. (I think it would be fine with any slim case.) My phone sits in the case very naturally, it plugs in securely to the connector and it makes it very easy to see the screen while I'm at my desk. I'd prefer a plug in cord for a different length or easy replacement if the cord wears out. But this is minor and it does not affect this product is still a good product.

Does not charge
This charging dock does not do the one thing it was designed to do: charge the phone. When plugged in, it appeared to be working but two nights in a row, I sat the phone on the dock with the phone battery showing 75%, and the battery was still at 75% the next morning.
