Waking up from your worst nightmare!
There's a new threat in town! Actually its a very old one. So old that most people didn't even know it had ever been a real part of life. Remember when your mom or dad tucked you in at night when you were little? Sometimes they would say something cute to you just before turning out the lights. "Don't let the bedbugs bite!"I don't know about you. But, I always thought that was some imaginary creature and they were just kidding with me. I'd never seen one. I'd never been bitten by one. And they always smiled as they said it, so I knew it was not something to really be worried about. And I'd go to sleep happily.About two years ago, in my job as a Firefighter EMT, we brought a patient into the Emergency room. While we were transferring him from our cot to a gurney, I looked down and was disgusted to see what I thought was a tick on the sheets. Then I saw another one. I pointed it out to the nurses and they quickly whisked the poor guy off to the decontamination room to scrub down.Later that day, when I was back with another patient, I asked about him. And they told me he was OK, but that those hadn't been ticks I saw, but bedbugs. "Bedbugs?! Those are real?", I thought. Yup. They are. The good news is that unlike ticks, they don't carry any diseases that transfer to people. The bad news is that unlike ticks, they don't occur in just one or two at a time. They breed and infest everything you own, in the thousands...like fleas, except they are a lot harder to get rid of, and by the time you notice them it is probably already too late to save your stuff. At any rate, a few months ago, my best friend told me he had them in his apartment, and we started to research them to figure out how to get rid of them. They can travel from as far away as another building, only coming out in the middle of the night while you are asleep to suck your blood. Then they go hide again in the nooks and crannies and seams to breed more and more of them. And you probably won't notice it unless you are looking for them, or until there are so many that the hundreds of tiny red bites on your skin alert you to the fact that something is wrong. They don't particularly itch or raise welts, and just a few can easily be dismissed like you do for any other tiny bug bite in the summer. Then, seemingly all of a sudden, you have big blotchy itchy patches all over.Well...we didn't find any cheap effective methods to get rid of them. All the "cures" involve whole house decontamination or heating up everything to like 150 degrees to kill them and their eggs. They're easy to kill individually. But, you have to see them and find them. And if you miss one pregnant female, a few weeks later, you have the same problem. Even if you get them all, they can just walk over from the neighbor's apartment. My buddy ended up abandoning his apartment and almost all of his stuff. Definitely all his furniture. But, he had a dozen guitars and some amps and other equipment, worth thousands of dollars that he just couldn't bear to throw away.I hope this doesn't happen to you. I was particularly worried at that point, because the only place he could even attempt to save his guitars, was my detached garage, about thirty feet from my house. And the only thing we found that was even close to reasonable price-wise, was Nuvan. Its a powerful chemical that acts like nerve gas to bugs, but is harmless to humans as long as you are careful and use it according to the directions. We ended up bagging all his equipment with a strip in each bag and letting it sit for a week. In the long run, it was good, as he ended up buying a house, and got rid of a bunch of stuff he no longer needed anyway. But it was a few months of prolonged pain in the butt, stripping and showering every time we entered the apartment to prevent bringing them anywhere else. The Nuvan worked. And I bought enough to keep around my house just so that no bedbugs will ever think this is a good place to set up shop. I'll be replacing them a few times a year simply as a preventive measure. Do yourself a favor. If you see some seemingly nice chair or mattress at the curb, and you think someone is throwing away something perfectly good....think again. It may be infested. Check your home for bedbugs, even though you know you couldn't possibly have them. Your neighbors might. They are sneaky. If you see small blotches on your skin, be suspicious. If you are unfortunate enough to get this problem, catch it early before you have to spend a bunch of money and/or get rid of all your furniture and carpeting. Nuvan will help you in that case. I have them under the beds and in the closets and by the doors. They have plastic cases to keep from touching them once you open them and put them in. Use gloves. Don't touch the strips themselves. But the tiny amount of nerve agent that they give off for a few months ought to be enough to keep any bugs from thinking your home is a good place to enter.

wow these are potent!
I had the misfortune of dealing with bed bugs (thanks, upstairs apartment!) so I was desperate to destroy any and all bugs that had made it into my life. I packed a bunch of my stuff in plastic bags/containers and threw one in each, then left it sealed for a week or two. Luckily I was also out of town that week so I was able to scatter a few around my apartment while I was away. When I returned I came home to find a few unlucky ones dead on the floor (not to mention some dead flies, gnats and spiders!) I don't think this will replace a professional treatment for something like bed bugs, but it will definitely make a difference! It's important to read the instructions before using these though. You DEFINITELY don't want to use them in the open if you're going to be anywhere nearby, and should take necessary precautions while handling them. Also make sure to ventilate the room during and after you open any containers or rooms with them in them... it leaves a bit of a moth ball like stink and really really dries out the air.... my skin, mouth and nose were noticeably drier just after opening some containers with them in it. Also be careful when using these around fabric or anything that might hold an odor... some of my fabric and leather items still have a faint smell of this stuff even months after using. If you're dealing with bed bugs though, a little smell is no problem compared to the issue at hand.

Works well
I use it inside a garbage can. Each strip lasts maybe a little over 2 months in the south Texas heat, which is what other bigger strips like Hot Shot would last. Good bulk value here.

Can't live without
I have dogs, plants and had a major fruit fly problem. I tried so many sprays, the little apple things, pest strip. Nothing worked. I got these and hung 2 up. Two days later not one fruit fly. Have not had pests on my plants.

Appears to work.
I had silverfish that would show up in my kitchen sink. I was told to try these and haven't seen a silverfish since.
