Great beginner project - youโll learn a lot!
This is a great beginner kit for crochet. I had no experience with crochet and ended up with a cute gift for a friendโs birthday! It definitely was a challenge but just enough to keep going. Here was my experience that I wish someone had shared with me to make sure I wasnโt completely off:1) Started with the pre-started magic circle. Super confused with the stitches initially, as you jump immediately into the โincrease stitchโ which is two single crochet stitches on the same โvโ hole. The video walks you through the first couple rounds and itโs intimidating to go by yourself. Felt like I was in over my head! I made a couple mistakes and ended up โfroggingโ - removing all the stitches I made a few times.TIP: Donโt be afraid to restart - the starter piece does not unravel! You just have to look out for the โvโ since the stitch marker is removed. I also completed Pierre over a few days (2+ hours a day, total 8+ hours?) and felt my muscle memory improved!2) Counting stitches is really confusing initially. Definitely write it down as the videos advise!TIP: Donโt forget to put your stitch marker in each round! When I got faster, I forgot and had to undo a bit to count everything again.3) Right before you stuff the body and start the decrease stitches, it will look kinda big. This is normal. Stitching the piece closed with the tapestry needle was less intimidating than I thought it would be.4) The white tummy was initially frustrating, there was always a hole no matter how tight I did the โeasierโ method. I clicked โhelpโ and ended up doing the magic circle which was less difficult than I thought because of the step by step.TIP: For the magic circle, make the slip knot, chain stitch, and crochet stitches bigger than your regular stitches as they will become smaller when you pull it to make a circle! (I got really frustrated initially as I couldnโt put my hook through, and loosening the stitches helped)5) Sewing the tummy to the body - redid this a few times to make sure it was really centralized between the eyes, and at the right height!6) Beak - another magic circle! With experience under my belt, I took my time to try to do this from memory, made a lot of mistakes, and really absorbed the concept. Remember to turn the piece inside out.7) Wings - a little complicated as it incorporates chain stitches, turns, and slightly more 3D.TIP: When you start to sew the wing flat at stitches 1&2, put a stitch marker across stitches 7&8 as it will become harder to see them. Make sure you follow the instructions on attaching the piece correctly each time. If youโre a stickler, make the wing pieces first before sewing on - mine ended up slightly different sizes but it adds to the charm (and I was so happy to be done!)8) HOOKED! Ended up giving the piece to a friend and tried to make a second Pierre. Didnโt have enough yarn by round 10 so I had to give it up and make a tiny one! Thinking about getting Wooble. Bought regular yarn and ohhhh easy peasy yarn is SO much easier to work with. Thanks Woobles for introducing me to this hobby! Experienced crocheters may consider this pricey but for a total beginner like me this was a great kit to not have to think about getting all the yarn colors, correctly sized hook, yarn, and eye pieces! Looking at other free tutorials and patterns as my next step, none of them are as straightforward. Big kudos to Woobles!

Great for beginners and those who can't read a pattern
I learned to crochet in October 2022. I learned the single stitch and started to create a basket and then a scarf. I had not done amigurumi's yet and also did not know how to read a pattern. This kit is great for beginners because Justine is amazing with her tutorials and she will literally go step by step with a tutorial to teach you how to do the stitches and how to read a pattern. I know people that can crochet but don't know how to read a pattern. I have recommended the woobles to them and even as experienced crocheters, they bought the kits and found them fun and really helpful. I bought this one first on Amazon and I've purchased the rest on the actual woobles website. They do have coupons from time to time, they also have limited edition kits which you can sign up for their text alerts to be notified of pre-sales. I have purchased at least five more kits since purchasing this one. This was the first one I did and this is the most basic one that the woobles has so it will teach you everything step by step. When you get to beginner plus, it may not give you everything step by step but you can still look up the videos on the Woobles website for a refresher. So what are you paying for with this price? You were paying for pretty much a teacher. You are paying for yarn that will not easily split or fray which is really helpful for beginners or just people frustrated with splitting or fraying yarn. Most kits come with a crochet hook. You can also purchase them on their website without a hook sometimes. You're paying for the entire package which includes a lesson on how to create the cute little character that you have purchased, the means to make the character and the confidence that you will now have after learning to create this cute little creature. Is it a bit on the expensive side? Yes at first glance, but when you think about how much you get out of it, the price fits the package. If you have been thinking about buying the woobles products, I highly recommend them. Any of them! They are so fun and you feel really good after creating one of these little creatures that maybe you thought you couldn't do before. And you have access to that pattern and the videos on the website forever. You can also use the patterns after you learn, to use different yarn and maybe make a bigger character. You use the same pattern, you just use a bigger yarn so while you may not have enough yarn to make two little friends, you could either buy more yarn on Amazon or buy a different yarn that you like and make more!

Great for beginners, a wee bit too expensive for what you get. Wish they gave a full pattern :(
I've been enjoying how this kit and the video instructions teach you some great basic stitches like Single Crochet and Increase! I'm a nooby and trying to learn through youtube has proven... extremely frustrating. With this, I've gotten the hang of how to hold my yarn and hook, keep track of stitches, read basic patterns, and maintain even stitches. Great basics! Great way to learn :).Now for some minor/major complaints depending on what you want from these kits. After Rnd.2 everything gets confusing. I drew out my own pattern for Rounds 4 and 5 (where I left off before writing this) to keep myself from getting too confused, it's pretty easy and I recommend doing that. Tally marks can get frustrating and I'd rather just count my stitches and look at the pattern to see where I should be. Second, the price is a bit steep but I'm more than happy to support this awesome small business. My wallet will be crying though... and that's on me, but these kits feel like they can get addictive fast!I can't wait to see what else the people at Woobles will come up with!

Adorable, excellent tutorial with video support for Beginner-crocheters!
Buy this! What a fun project! I broke my ankle and wanted to use my time to learn something new, and this kit really delivered! The videos walk you through everything you need to know, pausing between each little step, so you donโt get lost. I chose the lion design to gift to my grandmother who is a Leo and unfortunately isnโt doing well. This particular design was more complex than I thought, and I did make a few mistakes, but the final product still looks decent if a tad lopsided! I felt very accomplished for my first ever stab at crochet and learned a great deal of stitches that I feel I can replicate on other projects. I appreciate the videos so much and being able to rewatch them to understand the particulars about how to construct various stitches. There was really only one complicated stitch step that I couldnโt quite figure out from the tutorial, but after creating 37 of the stitches to build the mane of the lion, I finally got the hang of it! Very cute, very bent toward success for beginners, user-friendly, clear, and encouraging! Saw this in a NYTimes Wirecutter article and was so glad it came across my screen when it did! I think the experience was worth the price!

Beginner Friendly and Cute!
At the ripe old age of 36 (lol), I've felt like my brain isn't working as well as it should haha. Let's blame it on mom-brain.I wanted to pick up a new hobby that would help stimulate my mind without forcing me to stare at another screen so I figured crocheting would be great. I saw a lot of recommendations online for Woobles so here we are. Let me just say, either crocheting is easy or Woobles just makes learning how to crochet very easy - I was so excited when I finished my bunny that I facetimed my sisters right away and was excited to show my husband and kids. The kit teaches you the basic stitches so you'll have to learn from other sources how to do some more complicated ones but this is a great way to begin. I love that the kit comes with everything you need to make the little animals and the quality of the yarn is great! I will definitely be ordering more!

A helpful tip for beginners!
The kit comes with everything you need, but I do agree with other reviewers that the instructions were hard to follow. The video tutorial starts slow and basic, which is great, but then suddenly jumps, assuming the user is already comfortable with the different techniques. I did have to find additional videos on YouTube to understand the different stitches. Also, clicking next on every video tutorial while having the hook and yarn in your hands is frustrating. I had to start from the beginning several times. However, a helpful tip for others - instead of following the instructions step by step with hook and yarn in hand, I recommend watching the videos beforehand without doing any crocheting a few times to understand the stitches and techniques that the instructor is using. It definitely helps with the learning curve. It helped me understand each of the rounds and what stitches I was supposed to use. Like others have said, I don't think this is very beginner-friendly and requires a little bit of extra research & legwork outside of the tutorials provided.

I Finally Learned to Crochet!
I am an advanced beginner level knitter. I've been knitting for a long time, but I have ADHD and really struggle with the size and complexity of knitting projects. I like short, quick projects. Once I moved to the desert, I no longer had a reason to make hats and scarves, so I was mostly making dishcloths. It gets old.I'd always heard crocheting was easier and faster, but since I'm a "thrower" knitter, using my left hand to hold the yarn just seemed to really confuse me and I struggled to learn. I tried. Really, I did. I watched videos. I read books. I had a friend try to teach me. I took a class at a local yarn store. I made the most progress in that class, but when I asked them for an easy pattern to practice what I'd learned, she said no, just keep working on my swatch. Well, that's just not going to make my brain happy to randomly make stitches with no direction, so that was the end of that. This was my last attempt. If I couldn't do it with this, I was going to just accept that my brain is not going to learn how to do this and I would just have to accept I was a knitter, but would never be a crocheter.Well, I'm THRILLED to report, that I I finished Fred the Dinosaur. I can crochet. Barely. But I can actually see a path to finally getting the hang of this craft. The video tutorials were super helpful. I followed along. I rewatched some eight times. I pulled out the same row five times because I kept forgetting to count (you fellow ADHD'ers know what I'm talking about) and would lose track of my stitches. But I finished.WARNING: They have Beginner and Beginner+ level kits. Fred is a Beginner+. If you have literally never crocheted before, I do not recommend him as your first. It can be done, I am proof. But this was not easy and it involved a significant amount of frogging (ripping out stitches and rows) and profanity. His body was easy enough but those yellow spikes are what make him a real challenge. I'd recommend perhaps starting with Pierre the Penguin. You can find the skill ratings on the Woobles website.

Perfect
My daughter liked her and had a good time at her work and it was very easy to explain it in the video in detail

Brilliant but there's some issues
I absolutely loved making this. I've tried crochet before but struggled to understand. Most of the videos broke down the steps into easy chunks, and repeatedly showed different stitches to help. I also have plenty of wool left over so I might even be able to make another. So what didn't I like? Once you finish the body, the videos don't provide as much help. There's one video on how to make a circle, but 5 on a regular stitch (I'm sure you can guess which ones harder), and at times the subtitles blocked the screen, meaning I couldn't see what I needed to do

I would definitely recommend this to a friend!
