Murder at Ford's Theatre (Capital Crimes Book 19)

The pace of this novel was very slow--a lot of conversations and musings that I gather were supposed to provide insight into the characters. As it turns out, it wasn't really a mystery or crime novel at all--the murder around which the plot supposedly centered was essentially solved by accident. The detective work was largely irrelevant, and even the plot itself ended up having nothing to do with solving the crime. I guess it was supposed to be some sort of character study or commentary about the DC political landscape. I just wish that it had been advertised that way--I wouldn't have wasted the time it took to read it.

What a complex plot that kept you guessing right up to the very end. She certainly understood the nature of DC and politics, as well as a wonderful grasp of the theatre and Shakespeare. A great read!

You read this book expecting some sort of a coherent ending to it and you’re served up a ridiculous finish that seems like it was written as an afterthought at best. What a lazy, disrespectful writer. How did she ever get this many books published? What a waste.

Very little politics in this one, but it does give a lot of interesting details about Abraham Lincoln. The big question, who killed the intern? This story has a couple of twists.

Being sequestered during the pandemic, I find I MUST have good reading material. I've read nearly all of Ms Truman's Capitol Crime series. She really knows D. C. inside out!

A lot of misdirection, but very predictable. if you follow the money, its obvious early on who is guil of murder

Good and enjoyable reading. A little predictable in the end.Suitable for any reader to enjoy without feeling embarrassing it's content.

Always enjoy her books. Excellent writing and thorough knowledge of Washington DC.

A book club read it was a really good book easy to read and full of surprises. This was a second hand book but although old was in excellent condition.
