Bought this due to mice eating the seed in my bird feeder. The feeder is mounted on a 1" diameter pole - I didn't realize mice could climb that. Since I've attached this squirrel baffle to the pole, I have not had any more mouse encounters. It's only been a few days, so it remains to be seen whether it has definitively solved the problem, but so far...so good. It is MUCH thicker and sturdier than I expected it to be. It is definitely heavy duty...which I love. And the way it fits onto the base (which you screw together onto the pole), it has some wiggle room to move a little. This is a great feature...if it was solid and didn't move, it would be easier (though still next to impossible) for mice to jump onto it and scurry up. With its move-ability, even IF a mouse could hold onto it, it would wiggle and shake the mouse off. I am very pleased with this product, its reliability, and the ease and quickness with which it attaches. I would definitely recommend this. But remember, it's only for narrow poles - around 1" or so in diameter. This would not work to mount around a 4x4 post, or even a 3" chain link fence post.

I was battling with squirrels getting onto my bird feeder for awhile, and this was the solution for me! It's been on for about 6 months and NOT ONE squirrel has managed to get onto the feeder since then!!

I decided to feed the birds this season and bought a couple of shepherds hook poles and two kinds of feeders. I use a no-mess mix in a tube feeder and a peanut/sunflower mix in a hanging tray feeder. At first I had a couple of squirrels that climbed the poles, like little monkeys, and stole a bit of food, but otherwise it was mostly birds at my feeder. I bought a platform feeder to feed the squirrels but that wasn't enough, I guess. They wanted it all . . and they invited their friends and soon I had six squirrels in my yard hogging all the feeders. The squirrels would curl around the tube feeder and just suck out all the seed. I googled "Help! I have too many squirrels" and this item came up as a possiblity to stop them. Once I got the baffles up . . . hurray . . . it worked. They did figure out some ways to jump from a small stump to land on the pole above the baffles . . but I fixed that by cutting down the stump. I feed the squirrels with the platform feeder and then they run around the yard looking for dropped food . . and the birds can eat all they want from the hanging feeders. I'm enjoying the view . . . the baffles work! The only reason I took away a star (wish it was just one half) was that the buckle (which holds up the baffle) was difficult to apply. The nuts (one extra added to the kit) were so tiny and my fingers are quite elderly which made it so hard to get tight. I used a phillips screw driver to get the bolts in while my fingers holding the nuts in the back. I did get them up so all is well. YAY for the little birds.

It doesn't matter what else I have done to the pole that my bird feeders hang on the squirrels have always been able to climb it. I tried everything and when I saw this, I Thought why not! I hadn't tried it. I thought I'd give it a whirl. Well the darn thing actually works! It straps on nice and tight to the pole, the squirrels cannot get around it and it saves the seed in the bird feeder for the birds. I love this!

Finally something that works! It’s a quality product that’s easy to install and gets the job done. Yeah it looks a little weird, but what would you rather have that or the squirrels emptying out your birdfeeders every two days? I think it’s a good value for the money and it will probably pay for itself overtime due to how much bird food we were going through. Works best with taller poles and feeders that are high off the ground.

This made a so-called “squirrel proof” bird feeder into a truly squirrel proof one. Unfortunately, it did not make it a raccoon safe one.

Works well and fairly rugged

Easy to install. Have watched the squirrels looking at it but there has only been birds at the feeder.
