Good Calculator, works well, farily durable.
I've had this awhile, didn't review it right away as I was not sure of its features and use. I bought this to replace a TI Scientific calculator I had for a long time. This had a lot more features, had to really play with it to understand how to use it. If I was a millenial or younger I probably would have picked it right up, but I'm much older. I like that it has a solar cell and a battery, haven't had to replace the battery and its been a couple of years. The feel of the buttons seems cheaper than my old TI, but it works well, very functional, display is not always the brightest but in decent light it is very clear and readable. Has a slide on cover that fits on the back when in use and then slides off and onto the front to protect the buttons when needed, good design as it won't get lost or broken that way.

GREAT CALCULATOR - THE SOLAR CELL EXTENDS BATTERY LIFE QUITE A BIT.
I bought one of these when my very old calculator died. As I am constantly performing scientific and engineering calculations, I needed something more than the standard "math-box". I particularly liked the solar cell on the unit as it seems to extend the battery life quite a bit. I'm still on the original battery - something that never happened with my old unit. I was always installing new batteries in that, even though it was an LCD calculator. This is a great buy for someone who uses the scientific and engineering functions of a scientific calculator and puts a lot of "mileage on a calculator.

Good as it gets for the price
To start, I am some what of a calculator aficionado, I have the Sharp EL-W516T, Casio fx-991EX, and TI-36X Pro in my quest to find the "just right" calculator. Advantages of the Sharp over the Casio and TI: Easiest number system conversion e.g. hex->dec, dec->bin, etc Has a basic arithmetic drills No known bugs in the programming (at least as of writing this review) Custom shortcut buttons Home button to instantly bring back "Normal Mode" Unnecessary, but fun random number functions (Dice, Coin Flip) Best "Remainder Division" output shows quotient and remainder Most functions: 640 (maybe the TI has same/more, can't find a total function count for TI-36X Pro) Advantages shared with either the Casio or TI: History retained after power cycling (TI) Looks as advertised (no photoshop to make it look better)(Casio) Faster integrals (same speed as Casio, faster than Ti) Up to 4x4 matrices Disadvantages: Cheapest construction quality. Limited to 3 simultaneous equations and 3rd degree polynomials Disadvantages shared with Casio or TI: Awful matrix and vector input schemas (maybe I'm spoiled by Ti, you get used to it though)(Casio) Calculation history is lost when "switching" modes (Casio) Generic low-resolution-4-line display (TI) Those are the advantages/disadvantages that I've observed through use. Despite the cheapness of construction, this is my go-to calculator because I like the display formatting, bug free experience (TI has a weird display bug when working with PI and fractions), and general usership (for the most part). Seems like this model should be permitted on the FE exams. Maybe Sharp did not get this model in to the reviewers for, well, review to see if it's permissible. For that I'd recommend the TI over the Casio as the TI has superior calculation history/answer management. Most reviews for this calculator appear to be shill reviews, so please click "Helpful" if you find my review helpful.

Good programmers calculator
It seems a bit perverse to not just use the calculator tool built in to most major operating systems, but sometimes you just need to do a quick calculation without wading through menus. This does the important bit twiddling operations on buttons (doesn't have rsh/lsh/rol/ror, but you can cope) and is equally convenient for fixed point/normal calculations. Good readable screen (man I wish it was backlit) and a sturdy cover for sticking in your laptop bag. Pretty sure this is the best option outside a vintage 16c Weird limitation of 9 binary digits means you can only convert hex up to 1FF

I love this calculator!
I gave up my TI-83 and 84 and switched to a TI-30X because it was approved for use on all of the standardize tests that require calculators without advanced memory and storage. Why did I never go back to a more advanced calculator?? Who the hell knows! A colleague of mine recommended this calculator and damn, I have been missing out! The best part of this is a one button change from decimal to improper fraction to reduced fraction. This has been a game changer in checking my kids math homework with the improper and reduced fraction displays! I love this calculator!

Probably the best scientific calculator
I got this as an upgrade from my TI 30Xa. It does what I need and so much more! Like others have said, it’s like a graphing calculator, but without the graphing part. It has integrals, summations, exact answers (pi, fraction, and square root), statistics, scientific constants, vector calculations, matrix calculations, a basic equation solver, and much more. And even though it doesn’t actually graph equations, you can input y= equations and it will give you a table of values you could use to manually graph. It can be a bit tricky to understand how to use it, but once you get the hang of it, you will be flying though menus. Overall, this is, in my opinion, the best scientific calculator you can get.

False Advertising
The calculator is perfectly fine. However, twice now I have received a calculator that is battery powered not solar powered. Either this item is knowingly mislabeled or Amazon/Sharp have screwed up their shipping process and cannot deliver the item advertised. I'm tired of wasting time with Amazon returning mislabeled or incorrect products.
