52 Assignments: Black & White Photography - This book is a mission brief, a portfolio of photographic workshops, a personalised journal, and an inspirational guide to putting the creativity back into your craft. It is filled with a year's worth of weekly commissions and concepts for conceiving and composing powerful black and white images. From capturing clouds , reflections, and water to shooting cityscapes, architecture, and vehicles, all the assignments in this book have been written to inspire you to embrace this timeless art and convey the essence of your subject through shades of light and dark alone. I needed a kick in the pants to get out the door and shoot. I felt like I was stuck shooting the same scenes over and over. Some of the assignments aren't in my comfort zone at all, but making myself tackle them has turned out to be the challenge that I needed. I tried generating a similar self-assignment list using a chatbot, but it was missing something, maybe the lack of example pics and the less human sounding text was a turn off.

Nice project for the new year!
The book is a bit smaller than I thought it would be but it has tons of information on technique, is motivating and encouraging for anybody who enjoys photography and needs a bit of a booster. I am really looking forward working with it.

Black and white photography thinking.
Good lessons on how to think about taking black and white photos. Great way to see in "black and white."

Fun!
We landed up returning it, but not because it's a bad book, just wasn't something my son thought he would use.

Great ideas and concepts
Can't wait to get started on the 52 Black & White projects. Author has a very informative YouTube Channel and his books are equally good.

Well presented and easy to follow
Its well presented, the examples are great and the pro tips are worthwhile. To be fair though, this is not a "Oh, you've just picked up a camera for the first time and don't know how to use it yet" kind of beginners book. There's some assumed knowledge of the basics such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO and a few other things, but to be completely fair - you could still use the assignments conceptually without that knowledge - you just won't get the most out of the book. I bought this book while in a bit of a creative rut to be honest. I'd already done quite a number of the assignments, but in some cases never considered the black and white angle, so I'm doing them all over again - just different and in B&W. Totally worth the purchase.
