Perfect Lounge Wear
I recently bought one of these while on vacation in Japan and was very happy to find them available from Amazon so that I could get more in various colors. They're very comfortable and I use them daily for wear around the house, inside and out. They are based on garments worn by outdoor workers (gardeners, monks, etc.) in Japan and are also used as lounge wear at resorts and hotels, much like the complimentary robes provided by hotels in the U.S. It is acceptable to wear them anywhere in and around the resort and even in the town around the resort.

Good quality Japanese lounge wear
I bought a large. For a 200 lb, 5'11", barrel chested man, they fit well. The woven fabric is thick and after a few wears and washes, it softens up. The pants go just to the ankles and the top is an agreeable 3/4 - long sleeve. Both the top and bottom are made to fit many sizes. The top has a side tie, the bottom has a tie at the waist and the ankles. The bottoms also have an elastic waist with zipper and button. For anyone looking for Japanese lounge wear, this is worth it.

Shrinking issues
Ambivalent.. Beside material - great, design - great, after one washing the top shrunk to size S (I purchased XL), so I can't wear it. Not that it is to tight - it is too short. It looks like I am wearing a child pajama. If they would sell pre-shrunk material, s this would not be the case, I would probably buy more. Now... I am using the pants only.

Same quality as ones I’ve bought in japan.
I’m a 5’2, 135lb woman and I bought a size M. The quality is the same as ones I’ve bought in japan and I’m really happy with it. Size M is usually the smallest they are made in so it fit just as expected, which is a bit baggy. Samue aren’t supposed to be fitted as they are working clothes, but if you need to have it shrink up just a bit like I did just wash it on warm and dry it on medium before the first wear and it’ll be good to go. This one also softened up wonderfully after a couple washes. The fabric is slightly breathable as well so it can be worn year round comfortably.

Not disappointed
The quality of the material and construction is very good. It runs a little small but not that much. I use this outfit as my watercolor smock and enjoy how comfortable it is.

Fabric Too stiff
It is a very well made samue. It has very good fit, shape and tailoring. The reason I gave 3/5 is the fabric material is way too stiff. Stiffen fabric may be the reason it keeps a good shape. But you may be cautious if you have more sensitive skin and want to directly wear it without a underlying tee. Personally I feel skin itching with the fabric. It would be a keeper if fabric was softer. Although it is Japanese traditional clothing from a Japanese brand it was made in China.

Comfortable
Wow. These are comfortable. The material is a little heavier than my short pajamas (jinbei). I don't know, maybe it's supposed to be for colder winter temps inside living Japan-style. Anyhow, right out of the wrapper, these feel really comfortable. Maybe they'll be even better after a wash, but I think they're great as is. Wish I got some of these a long time ago....

Day or night comfort.
Couldn’t be more comfortable from day through nighttime wear. The material feels subtly elegant and moves with the body. Looking forward to time making it all the more body forming and flowing.
