OutdoorMaster Gem Recreational MIPS Cycling Helmet - Two Removable Liners & Ventilation in Multi-Environment - Bike Helmet in Mountain, Motorway for Youth & Adult

I am a recreational bike-rider, 20 to 25 mile rides on the weekends. I do not need a high end, name brand helmet from a bike shop. On the other hand I understand the importance of wearing a good helmet for protection, and as an engineer, I technically understand the importance of the shock absorption testing and certification which is what the MIPS is all about. I compared three helmets that claimed MIPS design: The Outdoor Master Gem, a Giro, and a Smith. All about the same price range between $40 to $65. The Outdoor Master was a clear winner for me. Pros: The internal foam absorption padding and the adjustment knob on the back of the helmet seem to be about the same in all three helmets that I compared. The differentiators were in the design and material quality of the internal webbing, adjustability, and chin strap, and also in the "look" of the helmet. The internal webbing and the chin strap in the Outdoor Master were clearly made of thicker material. The Outdoor Master came with two different sizes for the internal webbing which is easily attached to the internal helmet surface. The chin strap was also thicker and sturdier in this helmet, and it had a soft comfort cushion wrapped around the part of the strap that fits under the chin--a very nice addition which the others did not have. The external knob allows easy adjustment of the snugness of the webbing around your head--it is important to note that the webbing allows some designed movement between your head and the helmet, which is part of the designed protection (at least I think it is). The helmet has a removable visor which I think is essential. Finally, this helmet has a sleeker aerodynamic look to it compared to the more spherical look of the other helmets which I didn't care for. Cons: I haven't found any negatives yet, but I have only taken this helmet out for a couple of rides. Overall, very satisfied with the helmet which was packaged very well, with its own string bag, and extra webbing. I think it is an excellent value. Certainly I think any of these helmets in this price range with the MIPS certification are going to be more than good enough for the recreational rider, but I found distinct differences in the materials and in the look, glad I did some comparisons (that's where the free returns comes in real handy.)

I have worn this helmet 2 times so far and I do like it. I was worried about the sizing, it was very difficult to figure out for me. I am on the upper end of the medium size and was thinking I should take the large. The directions say if you are in between sizes go with the smaller size, so I bought the medium. I was considering returning it for the large but kept it, and it is fine. There is plenty room for me, I even dial it down some from the largest setting once I have it on. The Helmet is pretty light weight and the chin strap is comfortable. I could probably make it tighter but I really hate a tight strap under the neck, which is really how it should be worn for safety. The MIPS is a good feature to have and you can see how the helmet can be moved in multiple directions once on the head. I got the midnight blue color, which is a poor description. Its really a very soft bluish grey, its ok. I which they had more interesting colors. The airflow thru the top is good. I will probably start to use a helmet liner so I don't get too much sun on my head, though I cycle more in the late afternoon and evening, and under trees much of the time. I also like that there is a mesh that will block out insects which is an issue from time to time for me. The sizing on this helmet should really be small and a then medium/large, because the medium can be dialed down from a rather large size to a pretty small almost childlike size, which I think is weird. That amount of size difference should really range within a medium to large or extra large size for adults. Anyway I think its a good helmet so far.

Love it! I just bought an ebike with a top speed of 28+ MPH. My $2K mountain bike riding son told me I couldn't take the Jasion out until I upgraded helmets. I expected to use my Bell bike helmet which I've had for 10 years. I'm amazed at the improvements to this technology! Super comfortable, separate internal shell, perfect fit after strap adjustments, and even has a chin strap cushion. I couldn't be happier with this purchase! I can see where this helmet is worlds safer than my old bike helmet -- good price and very high quality. You should buy this helmet...

Comfortable, well-constructed, and light weight. My wife and I both wear one.

I tried both the large and small size and found the smaller one a better fit even though they provide two thicknesses of liners. The helmet is light and comfortable and easy to adjust. It's a very good value. I do wish it were a little deeper for side impact protection and to fit when I wear a hat, but it's not major.

This is a very nice bike helmet for the money. It has a visor and fits well. The color is exactly what my daughter wanted in the mint green color. The inclusion of MIPS at this price point is terrific. There are plenty of cooling vents and looks good while wearing. The straps are easy to adjust and the knob in the back is great for keeping the helmet snug. The chin strap also has padding. Extra interior pads are also included. There is also an interior mesh liner that keeps bugs from flying down in from the front vents. I would buy this again.

Overall, a wonderful helmet for a great price! Product came we’ll packaged and in great condition. The helmet arrives bubble wrapped in a cloth storage bag with the accessories, including some extra velcro stickers that can be used as attachment points for the liner if the ones inside the helmet wear out. The chin strap adjustability is good, but took a bit to figure out. Additionally the chin strap has with padding around it, which is a small but nice feature. Morever the adustable turn knob on the back works as expected. The helmet is comfortable to wear and has great safety features. It has a great rating by Virginia Tech Helmet rating, an independent helmet rating laboratory. I haven’t worn the helmet on bike ride yet, but from test fitting it I can tell that it’s very light and comfortable so I expect it to be nice on bike rides.

I agree with the reviews that say it feels like wearing a hat after just a little bit of time. lightweight, fits great, easy to adjust. straps are decently comfortable and don't rub on ears, and the padding for the chin prevents irritation. I am using it for 3-4 hour rides and never have had to think about the helmet.

Der Helm sitzt richtig angenehm auf dem Kopf – dank der zwei herausnehmbaren Innenfutter kann man ihn perfekt anpassen, egal ob bei warmem Wetter oder mit Mütze drunter. Die Belüftung ist top – selbst bei längeren Touren bleibt der Kopf angenehm kühl, ohne dass man das Gefühl hat, in einem Backofen zu stecken. Das MIPS-System gibt mir ein gutes Gefühl von zusätzlicher Sicherheit, gerade bei schnellen Abfahrten oder im Stadtverkehr. Optisch macht der Helm auch was her – sportlich, modern und nicht zu klobig, passt sowohl auf dem Mountainbike als auch auf dem E-Bike. Die Verarbeitung ist hochwertig, nichts wackelt oder klappert, und der Verstellmechanismus funktioniert präzise und zuverlässig. Fazit: Ein rundum gelungener Fahrradhelm, der Komfort, Sicherheit und Stil perfekt vereint. Egal ob für den täglichen Weg zur Arbeit oder die Wochenendtour im Gelände – ich möchte ihn nicht mehr missen.

Na pewno za wcześnie na 100% obiektywną ocenę bo trzeba by cały sezon przejeździć :) ale w punktach wypiszę plusy bo minusów jeszcze brak: - bardzo bardzo wygodny (najwygodniejszy z tych co miałem dotychczas na głowie) - bardzo dobrze wykonany (lepiej niż coponiekture 2x droższe) - wszystkie regulacje ok - bardzo dobry wynik w testach bezpieczeństwa Virginia Tech - pozycja 48 z 224 przetestowanych kasków rowerowych - bardzo dobrze wygląda (nie jest to pieczarka) Ponad to, waga rozmiaru L to 330g z daszkiem, 303g bez daszka. Wentylacja wydaje się być ok, ale dopiero upały pokażą jak to z tym jest.

Good value for money ,well made helmet ,with v good mips padding& padded chin strap, fits well ,the shell is slightly on the short side,plus it has an internal net, overall v good product.
