Paid a bit more for this version among several nearly identical items hoping that more money would get me better quality. No such luck. Prior to using, did a check on accuracy using items of known dimensions. Unfortunately the measurements were very inaccurate, likely due to measurement gap not lining up with pivot point but that's just a guess on my part. Did a series of readings measuing the actual gap vs. the indicated measurement and found that the reading was too low by about 10% across the entire range. Since I was using this to try to sort parts by size, the error adds up quickly enough that it could not be used as provided. The small error (0.9 vs 1.0) at the bottom end would work to separate 1mm vs 2mm OK. But at the mid (4.5 vs 5.0) and high ends (9.0 vs 10.0) made using the stamped in scale too inaccurate for my intended use. I did like the extra deflection of the indicator arm, larger movement than change in gap for easier reading at the low end, so I decided to keep it and make my own scale markings. I covered the existing scale with a stick on label and made my own scale marks at each pointer position using items of known dimensions. Looks a bit kludged together but works good enough for sorting. Just don't expect the stamped in scale to be accurate.

I wasn't expecting a precision implement, but I expected something better than this. It was advertised as a "Diamonds Jewelry Measure Tools." The scale was way off, and the error wasn't even linear. It measured about 60% over at 1mm, 50% at 2mm, going up to 10% over at 9mm. Even though the scale went to 10mm, the jaws would open to only 9mm. If the error had been at least linear over the range, I could have corrected it by a little careful filing on one of the jaws of the caliper. The whole point of buying a measuring caliper calibrated in millimeters (actually, the scale is calibrated in tenths of a millimeter!) is because you want to make some fairly fine small measurements. I have no idea whether any other of these cheap devices does any better, but this wasn't worth even the few bucks I paid.
