All Bad .com
This is my first Amazon review. I've been buying stuff on here for a couple years now Some good things and some bad. But never have I been more disappointed with anything more than this boat. I opened the box and read the entire instruction book first. Nowhere did it say I needed to lube up the driveshaft before I used it right out of the box. It did say I needed to lube it with the grease pretty much after every time I used it. But it did not say it came out of the box needing grease before I used it the first time. With that said, you should know where this is going. So the driveshaft overheated and melted the plastic sleeve inside the stuffing tube which heated up and melted the support that holds the stuffing tube which ended up causing the stuffing tube to turn with the motor and ended up honing out a large hole in the hull where the rubber gasket "Was" that holds the water out. Even after that I still wasn't angry at the manufacturer. I took the blame. But trying to fix that has been a 2 week nightmare filled with waiting for parts, spending all my free time after work repairing, going to the water to try it out and being embarrassed when it only goes 5mph and then starting all over again. Just in parts alone I have spend about $250 including a new ESC because the first one melted because of the terrible "water cooling " system. Also the boats "self righting system" sucks and only worked the first day. I had to replace the fried receiver because the antenna came off and their stupid idea to put a tube that goes from the outside where the water is directly into the inside of the "water resistant" box that protects the receiver from getting wet. In short... if you lose the antenna in the water then they made the hole into a funnel to directly divert water into the spot that needs to be dry. Pretty dumb. I have now spend close to $1000 and for that I had one 7 minute run the first day. Every day after that was not fun. Just frustrating and embarrassing. This boats designer should be fired.

BEST RTR RC BOAT PERIOD!
I watched plenty of youtube reviews before purchase And they all give great tips on pre-run and post run maintenance The self right feature is the main reason why I love this boat! Its fast over 50mph I got plenty of batteries because you only get about 5 minutes of run time but its worth it! Love this boat so much that I purchased both colors! I suggest that you get a Pro Boat Horizon Harbor for emergency recovery its also a fun detailed boat with plenty of run times, lights and optional water cannons. Thank you OG Paperboy 77

Really good boat, longevity is questionable
This is a tough review to write. For the boat itself, I'd give it 5 stars. It's clear that Proboat put a lot of time and effort into improving from V1. When running, it performs very well. Smooth riding, accurate steering, stable, fast. What more could you want? Answer: confidence in its longevity. On day 3 of operation, after a very successful set of runs, I was unable to remove one of the four canopy thumbscrews. Though it had gone on smoothly, I needed pliers to remove it. I discovered that the aluminum thumbscrew had stripped and the nut was damaged. After some experimenting, the bolt was usable but the nut would not accept any of the four thumbscrews. At a minimum, the nut needed to be replaced. I went online at Horizon Hobby and found the recommended set to replace the thumbscrews and bolts (PRB-1280). I ordered them from Amazon (for faster delivery), but when they arrived, they were clearly not the right ones. I contacted HH, sent numerous pictures, and they responded (after four days) saying that they were sending nuts and thumbscrews. After another four days, a package arrived containing only thumbscrews. Argh. I contacted HH again and they promised to send the nuts. After a week and half, nothing. I contacted HH again, they admitted to a shipping problem, and promised to send the nuts. Then I discovered that one of the two (skinny plastic) brackets holding down the ESC had broken. (I'm guessing that the screw got over-tightened during assembly.) The ESC was still attached, but was moving around in an alarming way. Rather than open a second support case, I thought I'd wait until the nuts arrived. I was able to operate the boat despite the broken canopy thumbscrew by applying a large amount of marine tape to seal up the two adjacent edges. That worked OK, keeping the inside dry. Fortunately I never capsized the boat. Meanwhile, the Amazon 30-day return policy expiry was looming and I had a damaged boat with no repair yet possible. I did not want to go beyond the 30 days, so I returned the boat. During the return process, I was offered a replacement boat, which I accepted. I am now operating that. As this review started, it is a blast. I want this relationship to work. Fingers, eyes, and toes are crossed. For HH, some suggestions: 1) support response needs to be quicker and more reliable. 2) the thumbscrews need to be made of something harder than aluminum. There are many online references to this same stripping problem. The canopy nut looks like it's stainless steel, why aren't the thumbscrews? 3) The website is still showing the wrong thumbscrew/nut replacement set for this boat. Fix this. I was willing to buy the set and solve the problem myself, but this error caused a month delay in resolution.

It’s a 5 if you research
Made an impulsive buy watching content creators. I know, my fault and not too unsatisfied. There’s always something they omit to help sales and content creation benefits. Awesome speed and fantastic self righting, as presented. It’s always a hit or miss when selecting power. Bought this with the highest battery recommendation from both creator and vendor stating it to be acceptable. Only comment I have, as with all electronic items like this, is use the lesser power. You want faster then buy real equipment I guess, hah. This unit, for me, runs for about 2-2.5 mins with two 3S 5000 mAh 100C batteries. At the end of the run the battery packs are so hot it’s hard to touch. Motor seems ok though. It’s still fun.

A good boat that could be a great boat
The boat is good the controller or transmitter looks cheap and since my boat came without an antenna tube (it says so in the instruction manual on page 100), talk about cheap! Also the nylon bolt for the break away rudder was gone, no spares. I had expected much more from Pro Boat, but will hold final judgement until we give it a run or two. It's kind of like you go to a motel and see a spot of unknown origin on the sheet, you say give me fresh sheets. Doesn't matter that the spot is only the size of a dime and 99.9 % of the sheet is spotless, the sheet is dirty.

Fast
Upgrading the prop to Oxidean Marine's 4519 CNC aluminum prop added 8 mph for me on GPS. It tickles 60mph just with a prop swap. Next season is going to be an Oxidean Marine 4082 motor and their 200A ESC. This thing on 8S will hopefully hit 75. It's fun and fast, throws a huge rooster tail. Turns on a dime if its on plane. I did need to upgrade the cooling system on it. It ran too hot for my liking on stock setup. I got bigger tubing with an inner diameter of 4mm, ordered a "Y" splitter to put in before the ESC, then had 2 tubes going into and out of the ESC directly. It dropped temps quite a bit - like 30 degrees if not at full throttle for the whole run.

Tolles Boot
