PALMGREN 9670101 - Bench Grinder Pedestal Stand

This is a great stand. Easy to assemble, nice and heavy, sturdy and no wobbling. My Craftsman 6" bench grinder bolted right up, no issues.

I mounted a 6” dewalt vise to the table, 3 of 4 holes lined up for bolts and that was good enough to secure it down. There were a lot of chipped paint areas on the stand, as you can see in the pictures. Assembly was quick and easy. The pipe section could have been made thicker, it has pretty thin walls. I plan on filling the inside up with something heavy to add more weight. Overall it will work for what i wanted, a somewhat mobile vice on a stand.

After the stand arrived in a torn apart box, I went to assemble it only to discover that the main upright, steel pipe-shaft, which is supposed to have two holes drilled in it in order to secure the grinder table on top, only has one. Moreover the bolts pre-screwed into the grinder table are too short to adequately penetrate the shaft. I did notice that the bolts for the base are a bit longer, so I tried one of those, but IMHO it was also too short for safety, and only long enough to partially penetrate the one drilled hole in the shaft, but not long enough to actually emerge. Pretty pathetic quality control for an item that really needs it and annoying!

(1) Understand it's a long way from China to Arizona. Further understand it's hard to package 60 pounds of cast iron. That said, cardboard packaging inside the shipping container basically gave up and cast iron parts apparently bounced around together for much of the trip. It's hard to break cast iron but the grinder stand looks beat up even on day-one after assembly.(2 )The grinder mounting plate has multiple slots and holes for fitting a variety of bench grinders. What it doesn't have is compatibility with the Delta 23-197 grinder. Problem was solved with four new holes drilled in the mounting plate - just don't plan on a direct bolt on assembly...

Use to support bench grinder/buffer in a garage where this cannot be permanently mounted. I move it around where needed and it does just fine where is. Simple..works well.

the only issue i have is that some grinders ( tried 2 that i have) will not align with holes provided. Otherwise its all good.

She's sturdy. I have a Linishell 1-horsepower motor mounted on the Palmgren stand with an 8-inch grinder wheel on one side and a 2x36 inch belt grinder attachment on the other. Without floor attachments or stand mods, she is rock steady. I recommend.

Heavy and stable. Mounted a Metabo 6in grinder on it.
