In Mark Batterson's unique way, he leads us through the life of King David... showing us that it doesn't matter how many mistakes we've made in life... the important thing is that we see where those mistakes have fit in our journey... and how God can use them throughout our lives. Mark starts the book talking about where our confidence should come from, and reminds us that our self-worth and persona are not attributed to our own ability, but instead to the God who created us. The rest of the book brings out good and bad points in David's life... where he messed up... where he came back. It also talks about how we can fend off those pesky things that get in the way, as we journey toward becoming who God made each one of us to be. My favorite chapter is the one about life symbols. We all have specific moments in our lives that define us. This book helped me to really think through mine. EACH one of us was created to fulfill a SPECIFIC purpose... one that no one else can fill.
